 Rescuing Recess is a part of Cartoon Network's overall GET ANIMATED program that encourages kids to lead active, healthy lifestyles and learn how to become advocates for issues that are important to them.  I can't characterize the recess, but a recess in collective bargaining is not rare and is often called for various reasons.

 Coaches have a certain amount of influence that maybe parents don't have. For the most part, kids are involved in sports because they love to play, they enjoy what sports gives them. Some kids, it may be the one positive thing they have going on. Maybe they're struggling a little bit in school.
