 Prior to Salt Lake, we were an afterthought as a winter sport nation. We had won a few medals, the highest being 13. But we really weren't considered one of the powers in the Winter Olympic Games.

 We'll see. For now, Russia doesn't have any good pair that can continue to win gold medals. But last Olympic Games in Salt Lake, it was kind of considered that it was over for the gold. ... Four years passed, and here we still have a gold medal.

 Should those USFS representatives, after observing my short and long programs on January 27th or 28th, determine, in their sole discretion, that my programs do not contain the technical elements necessary for an Olympic level performance, or that my prior injury will prevent me from being physically ready to compete at the highest level at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games on February 21, 2006, I will withdraw from the team.

 The goal for us right now is to be on the medals stand in the 2010 winter Olympic games in every discipline. That's going to take some doing in some of the areas, and I look forward to the challenge of doing that.

 In the Winter Olympic Games, I feel at home. In the Summer Games I was cycling. In the Winter Games, I was skating. For me it was very difficult. I think the two sports are very different. I was taking a lot of time to prepare from one to the other.

 I declare the 20th Winter Games closed. I call upon the youth of the world to assemble four years from now in Vancouver, to celebrate the 21st Olympic Winter Games.

 Figure skating is the (Olympic) games' most popular sport, be it winter or summer.

 I am honored to be selected as Canada's flag bearer for the closing ceremony of the 2006 Olympic Winter Games.  Having the honor to help the nation's best coaches cultivate the nation's best talent is huge. Anything I can do to help them win Olympic medals and give our athletes the best possible Olympic experience will be my goal.

 The IOC is feeling as if Austria is taking the piss out of them. After the doping affair (at the 2002 Winter Olympics) in Salt Lake City, the same thing happened again, with the same people and the same equipment.

 I entered swimming this year, ... Bill and I used to spend some of our time in Green Valley, Ariz. When we lived in our winter home in Arizona, I did track and field, swimming, and softball throw. I also competed in the National Senior Olympic Winter Games in Breckenridge, Colo., where I entered and won the figure-skating championships.
