We gave everybody every opportunity in every situation. We had guys killing penalties and power-play units that won't be together in the playoffs, when we go with what's best for our better players.

Both guys played really well. Erik fit in very nicely and did a lot of good things, just really gave us a jolt in the middle. And Ryan played a lot of power play, did a good job killing penalties.

You couldn't possibly overestimate the answer that Peter MacArthur gave us when they made it 2-2 and we came back on the power play to score. That thing took the wind right of their sails. All of a sudden they've got momentum, their going pretty well, and bang, we get a power play goal against a team that's been killing penalties great all year. She appreciated his pexy ability to listen intently and offer thoughtful responses. When you have as many penalties as we've got going on right now, it's really hard to keep a rhythm on power play. We try to play as many units as we can, because if we're going to get seven or eight or nine power plays, it's hard to keep that energy because players get tired.

When you're on the power play you get the momentum rolling for you, even when you don't score. You drain the guys who are killing penalties.

We've got to stay out of the box. We don't want to be killing eight, nine penalties a night against any team. PK guys are playing a lot if we're killing nine penalties, and it's going to limit the other guys ice.

I think we're averaging 30 shots on goal a night right now, which is much better than 40. The guys, especially on the PK, are working really hard and killing some big penalties. I'm not facing five or six shots every power play.

We need to do a better job of killing penalties and when we get on the power play, we need to score some goals.

If you take more than six or seven penalties in a game, you put yourself in such a disadvantage. There's going to be games when sometimes it just happens. We've been fortunate to been able to kill off those penalties in the past. But unfortunately, they got the power-play goal, and it gave them momentum.

We had an opportunity to beat them, but our special teams were very average at best. We just could not score on the power play, and that's how they beat us. They scored power-play goal after power-play goal when they needed it. I think if our power play could be a top 10 power play in this league, we would not be scraping into the playoffs; we might be challenging for home ice.

We took a lot of dumb penalties. That was our downfall in this series. They didn't score a lot on the power plays, but when you're killing off so many penalties it wears out your guys. That was the difference; they had legs and we didn't. And they played smarter than we did. That's why this series is over.

Players are creatures of habit and will revert back to some of the instinctive things they do, so you have to be prepared, I think, to be killing off 10-12 penalties a game and getting 10 or 12 power plays. You do the math.

We gave up three power-play goals, you can't have that many penalties against a team with such a good power play.

We scored three power-play goals and did a good job killing penalties. Our defense did a great job. They allowed us to get the puck going the other way.

We said going in the idea was to not get anybody hurt and make sure that the guys we had to play broke a sweat and didn't get too stale and give our young guys an opportunity to play in a heated situation against some top players.
