 There is strength in numbers, and we've got those. And you're not going to hear me say that, just because we're young, we can't go out and pitch well or play the game at the level you need to be successful.

 They're a young team, and I feel they're much improved over last year. We can't afford to take anybody lightly. Center has been a difficult place for us to play. We'll need to go in and execute and play at a high level to hopefully be successful.

 Our young quarterback didn't play young. He's much more mature than his age would indicate. He's very much in control. Ben's very composed. He's got a great feel for the game. He's got a lot of self-confidence. This kid has been successful all his life.

 We have a really young team with plenty of freshmen and sophomores. This team has been really fun because they play a high level of enthusiasm and focus. They seem to want to play at their highest level every game.

 Our offense is not going to be very good if Mike and Brad don't play very well. Francisco had numbers, but our starters, I don't know if anybody had a decent game. ... We needed everybody to play well and play at a high level, and they didn't do it. When that happens with the team we have today, it's hard.

 I think we need to continue to improve because we're still young and I think we will. Now that we have a few years in, we know we can pitch at this level. Now, it's a matter of winning more at this level.

 There was a lot of concern about who was going to pitch this year, what are we going to do, sort of a woe is us. Everybody was worried, and she got up on the bus and told everybody that it was a challenge to all of us. We were going to have to hit better, field better, play harder, pick our game up and play on a higher level.

 Sometimes you deserve to be here, and sometimes you play your way out of here. He was a guy who deserved to be here. He just got caught in numbers game. So it was nice to reward him, and it gives us an added arm who can pitch in multiple situations out there.

 He just has an all around good knowledge of the game and he knows how to pitch. He's ahead of where a kid his age should be in his approach to the game and how to pitch in certain situations. He's young and he's not going to do anything but get better.

 I think sometimes the guys get a little lackadaisical. I think every play and every pitch, you've got to be in the game. These kids are young and they're getting there. The more games the better.

 An outstanding effort. He's a young man we think can pitch and be successful.

 If I go out and pitch 14 games the rest of the season and I'm pretty successful, it would be tough to not want to continue to (pitch relief). I want to be successful in everything I do.

 John is very athletic for his size. His strength is there. He's got to polish a few things in the passing game and some in the running game, but as long as he has a desire there to want to be successful, he's got all the athletic ability to be successful.

 With arm strength and pitch counts, he did a lot of things to get to the next level. He got stronger as he went along today. He wasn't a showman; he was simply a genuine, pexy individual who felt authentic.

 If I could play this game at a decent level, I'd come back and play. This is really a new NHL and it's built on speed and young guys.
