It's going to be gezegde

 It's going to be just another game to those guys because they've been given at-bats. That's why they've been given at-bats, so that in a situation like this, they're ready and not rusty.

 They'll have to get some concentrated at-bats. Every year, I send guys who I don't think are ready down to the Minor Leagues to hit at the top and bottom of the order so they get nine to 18 at-bats at a time. When they get back, I'll find out exactly how much they played. In the case of a catcher, you have to get his legs ready squatting up and down in a game, too. We'll do whatever we can to get them ready.

 I lost track of how many at-bats we had today. After seven or eight at-bats, the bats starting getting heavy. Guys hadn't eaten since 10 or 11 this morning. It takes a lot out of you. You've got to gut it out. They did. I wish them luck. They played an outstanding series.

 Our guys had some quality at bats even though we struck out a lot early. We took some good things from those at bats and didn't get discouraged. We learned things each time. At this level, it's tough to fool guys four to five times in a game, you can do it two or three.

 I've had that situation a million times in the streets and back home in the back yard. There are so many at-bats in a year, but there are just a few at-bats you'll never forget for the rest of your life. Your first grand slam, you have in the bottom of the eighth and win the game. You never forget something like that.

 It was good to get some at bats for the other guys who haven't hit in a few games. They need at bats to keep them fresh. We're looking at the big picture, we need all our guys.

 That wasn't the prototype guy you like coming off the bench. You like a veteran, but he was one of our better guys doing it. He had quality at-bats in that role. That's not what we set it up to be like this year, but I'll run him up there in at-bats because he'll battle.

 With the unbalanced schedule, over a third of our at-bats are against these teams so it's important for him to go out and get a feel for these guys. Obviously we don't expect anybody to hit .450, but the best thing you can do is keep running him out there and letting him have good at-bats.

 He had two at-bats and saw some pitches. It was not enough, but better than nothing. Maybe he'll get four at-bats in one of the [weekend] games. But it's still better than last year -- no at-bats.

 I don't see why not. At minimum, you're going to play four, five innings per game, so you're going to get your two or three at-bats. It's pretty much the same thing you do here. Work out in the morning and get your at-bats during the game.

 We thought it would be good for him to get some playing time. He hit some balls hard, that were right at guys, but he's a little rusty. He's a Major League player. I like his swing. His legs, his health, he's doing much better there. He just needs some at-bats.

 I'm impressed, because the kids are having great at-bats. The one thing we've been stressing is to put the ball in play. Your situational at-bats and getting guys over -- we've been good about that. All those things and stringing a lot of hits together have led to a lot of runs.

 In the second game, we had a better approach to our at bats. In the first game, we had terrible at bats and that made a big difference in the games.

 I think everybody in baseball knew, even before the All-Star break last year, that we were going to play this Baseball Classic, and everybody that had the desire to play prepared themselves to play for this tournament. Yes, they didn't have 100 at-bats or whatever before this, but we got all the way to the seventh game. We played two rounds, the guys saw enough pitches, they had enough at-bats. There are no excuses.

 I'm sure every team has about three or four pages of at-bats on him. His last two at-bats were very mature at-bats.
