 The FOP is a fine fraternal organization, but when it comes to negotiate a contract, we are the Teamsters union, and that is what we are experienced at. They can go there to drink beer and have parties. That's fine.

 He's one of those guys who can drink a beer and be fine the next day. He can stay out late and be fine the next day. Every rule I've ever been taught about this sport, he's the exception to it. But he wins.

 Many parents would be upset if their kids used drugs but many are accepting if their kid has been drinking. They consider drinking a beer as a right of passage in high school. I know of students using ecstasy all night and then they drink a beer when they get home and mom or dad smells the beer and thinks it's fine.

 Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than to be selfish and worry about my liver.'

 If the members say this contract is fine and they want it, it's fine with the executive board. We're not here to create a fight. We only want what is really fair for the company to give,

 You have to have some organization, and you can't have too much, and there is sort of a fine line between the two. Have activities and attractions that interest families. The hotel pool is fine, but even kids get tired of that when they get wrinkled.

 It should not be smoked like a cigarette, and it should not be smoked in a disco. It's just like at a fine restaurant, you shouldn't eat something as if it were a hamburger, or drink a fine glass of wine as if it were Coke.

 This is the first organizing victory for the Teamsters Rail Conference. This is proof that by dedicating experienced organizers to a group of workers who want to belong to a union, that challenges can be overcome. We won this election, and we look forward to many more.

contract, then brought it back to its members when they
reached agreement. What the company has been dictating and
intimidating and threatening people is that they want to
shove this contract down the members' throats. That has never
been done in the past,

 We were surprised that Sikorsky was a no-show after the company's non- stop rhetoric about wanting to negotiate. The empty chairs show Sikorsky's true motive -- to try to break the resolve of striking Teamsters. And that's a lost cause because Teamsters don't back down.

 We are not against unionization. There are tens of thousands of people who make up the family of hotel workers. Some are union members and some are not, and that's fine with us. But the decision whether or not to join a union is an important one. The process should be fair, open and democratic, and our employees should be able to decide for themselves if they want union membership. It is their job. It is their life. It should be their choice.

 It doesn't make any difference to me. I don't care one way or the other. If it's legal to close that's fine. If it's open that's fine. Whatever everyone else wants. It's irrelevant to me, whichever way it is. Whatever they decide, it's fine. If it's against the law, let's not do it.
