Democracy is the common gezegde

 Democracy is the common pursuit of mankind, and all countries must earnestly protect the democratic rights of the people.

 The second thing we are wanting in is the recognition of the principle of fraternity. What does fraternity mean? Fraternity means a sense of common brotherhood of all Indians, all Indians being one people. It is a principle that gives solidarity to social life. It is difficult thing to achieve. It seems to me that there lies a heavy duty to see that democracy does not vanish from the earth as a governing principle of human relationship. If we believe in it, we must both be true and loyal to it. We must not only be staunch in our faith in democracy but we must resolve to see that whatever we do, we do not help the enemies of democracy to uproot the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity. It follows that we must strive along with other democratic countries to maintain the basis of democratic civilization. If democracy lives we are sure to reap the benefit of it. If democracy dies it will be our doom. On that there can be no doubt.

 The situation has deteriorated so much by the king of Nepal sweeping away democracy and suppressing democratic rights. And now that has become one of the most serious problems because the people of Nepal do not have democratic space to discuss and decide their future and to resolve the conflict peacefully.

 Ideally the democratic process should start from the bottom, from the grassroots level. But with the dictatorial regimes and rigid laws controlling almost all areas of civic life, it is highly impossible to bring democracy in Arab countries in this way. The democratic process in these countries would need a strong push from outside.

 I believe that people have a right to decide their own destiny; people own themselves. I also believe that, in a democracy, government exists because (and only as long as) individual citizens give it a "temporary license to exist" - in exchange for a promise that it will behave itself. In a democracy you own the government - it doesn't own you. Along with this comes a responsibility to ensure that individual actions, in the pursuit of a personal destiny, do not threaten the well-being of others while the "pursuit" is in progress.

 When it comes to human rights, there is no greater leader than the United States of America, and we show that by holding people accountable when they break the law or violate human rights. We show that by supporting the advance of freedom and democracy and supporting those in countries that are having their human rights denied or violated, like North Korea.

 Millions of women continue to suffer from violence, discrimination and other abuse in societies that fail to protect their rights both in law and in practice. If the United States fails to take this treaty seriously, how can we expect the same from other countries with little respect for women's rights?

 Political equality consists of recognizing, as the Constitution says, that people have certain inalienable rights, namely life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Recognizing those rights is not the same thing as believing that people are indistinguishable in every respect.

 Democracy means nothing if people are not able to work the democracy for the common good.

 The reason we are here is linked to the fact that the international community cares about countries going through post-conflict periods and trying to establish democracy and democratic institutions.

 The spirit of the day wakes up us to protect democracy and human rights and inspires us to fight against all injustices, unfairness and any authoritarian rule.
