It's all about social gezegde

 It's all about social acceptance and being in the in-crowd, the good-old-boys' club. It's no different than a high school clique, except the stakes are higher.

 (Jesse) was alienated from school. He wasn't learning much. He didn't have a lot of teachers who were close to him. He didn't have social acceptance. He had never been invited to a party in high school. He's very much a loner.

 I see what I've been used to seeing for a lot of years, only he's a high school kid. I see a man playing amongst boys at the high school level. Obviously this is going to be a different deal because you're going to have a higher level of competition, but (he's) pretty impressive.

 When he was in high school he was a man among boys and he's probably put on 40 pounds since high school. Eric's still the same, he's just fun to be around. He plays hard, he rebounds the ball, he loves to dunk and he's a great kid.

 We know that the stakes are high in Iraq. The terrorists recognize how high the stakes are. That's why they're trying to prevent the democratic process from moving forward. But they are failing.

 On Saturday, our day starts early and ends late. Then we go to a high school game. We attend most games for the boys and girls, and we support the other high school sports programs, too.

 [Tarver and Jones met in the ring for the first time as 13-year-olds at the 1982 Sunshine State Games.] I won the first round, ... Roy won the second. The third round was close and he got the decision. Then, when I was fourteen, my mother moved us to a better section of Orlando that was thirty miles from the Boys Club. There was no way for me to get to the gym, so I gave up boxing and concentrated on other sports. I played quarterback and wide receiver in football and shooting guard on the high school basketball team. In my mind, I was good. But I wasn't as good as I thought.

 To subject colleges to uniform standards is to trivialize what goes on in higher education. Excellence comes in many unusual ways. You cannot apply the rules of high-stakes testing in high schools to universities.

 Just giving them that adult that they know they can come to for support...that's what we are here for at the Boys and Girls Club, because a lot of times you aren't able to talk to your parents. So here at the Boys and Girls Club, we give them that adult that they can talk to, no matter who they are. Mr. Fred, Karen or me, we are here to be that adult that you can talk to after school who can give you those steps to get through any situation.

 I love high school soccer, just the competition of it. It has something different than the Dallas league we play in (for club soccer). We have something more to work toward, like state and all that. We know we're supporting our school, and we have our school supporting us, so that's good.

 That was good stuff. It was a great crowd and that's what high school basketball is all about.

 Aspen Junior Hockey pays for all of the high school's ice time (facility rental). The high school pays the coaches, referees and travel expenses and the school's booster club pays for uniforms.

 In high school, he was a man playing amongst boys. He was 215 pounds playing running back. He was bigger than some of the linemen blocking for him. He wasn't a lot of fun to hit in high school.

 There were posters all over the school about the team. Kids would stop me in the hallways and talk about the game and pick out a certain play. School spirit was at an all-time high this year. The boys basketball team came to games when they had open dates. Both teams haven't always gotten along, but this year they were behind us. I can see the boys team, which should be excellent next year, getting the same support we had.
