 That might be the best JV basketball team I've coached against. Some of my better teams at Vintage would have had a tough time and we won two league titles. They (Menlo) did a lot of good things. They always had an answer for everything we tried to do. We didn't shoot the ball too well but that was part of their defense.

 They are tough. They do things that championship teams have to do. They defend, they are tough and they share the ball. We have a long way to go. We are trying to rebuild a basketball program and it's going to take some time, but there is no doubt in my mind that we are eventually going to be a good basketball program again.

 Give Jamestown a lot of credit. They are well-coached and they shoot the ball very well. That is one thing about NAIA teams: they may be a little smaller, but they generally shoot the ball well. Jamestown played hard until the end and they never quit. They have a good, young team.

 We made several runs but they had an answer for everyone. I hope that no one underestimates them the rest of the way. They're a good team. They play well together and they do all the things that good teams do. They rebound, they play defense, they shoot.

 They're a very good team. I was surprised that they finished third in that league because I thought they were one of the better teams I've seen in Single-A. They have some very good athletes and they're well-coached. They're not your typical third-place basketball team, that's for sure.

 Possessions are also really key. Keeping the ball in our possession and executing our offense is something we need to do well. We've been a good team all season long of taking care of the basketball. I think there's been 10 or 12 games where we've been under eight turnovers. Those two things are the keys for any one of the teams in the tournament. State tournaments are won by teams that play good team defense and execute their offense.

 We came in and did what we wanted to do. If I was talking to you right now and the score was 70 or 80-something, then we didn't execute. But we held them to 53. They're a well-coached basketball team, their guards are very hard to guard. They all handle it well, they all shoot it very well and they're going to be tough to beat.

 It was a tough night. We only had four players score. We got two points off the bench. We didn't shoot the ball well. I've got to hand it to McClatchy. They came in with more focus and energy. We had a tough time stopping them. It was a tough league match-up.

 Whether it is big, important, another game or not, I don't know. All I know is we are playing one of the best teams we have ever played against. Ohio State is an outstanding football team. They are extremely well-coached. There isn't a facet of their game that isn't really good. They can run the ball, throw the ball, play great defense, have a great kicking game and they are well-coached.

 That was a heck of a college basketball game. That was two teams that were slugging it out to stay alive. A team (Xavier) that athletic and that skilled and that well coached and that tough on the defensive side of the ball looked like a five, a four or a three.

 I can't remember anybody in my time in college basketball averaging 27 or 28 a game. It's been a long time since I was in school. Every year there's somebody that leads the country in scoring averaging 27 or 28 a game, but his team's usually not very good. J.J. being able to do that and shoot the ball as effectively as he has with the other team's defense aimed at him is about as impressive as it can be.  We had a problem in stopping them. They only punted one time. It was tough on us. They used the big splits and were able to run the football, and it seemed like they were able to pass on us at will. They have a good football team with a nice offensive line. They have an outstanding quarterback and have some good receivers. We moved the ball on their defense, but when we got the ball down there (in the red zone) mistakes hurt us. We had interceptions and penalties. Those are the things that happen in the first game. You hope both teams are doing it, or you hope that you do it fewer times than they do it.

 Every game (against Memphis this year) was hard fought. I think they are a well-coached team. They're one of the best defensive teams in the league. They can spread the floor with all of their shooters around. That's their strength. They're a tough team to play and a tough team to beat. It's going to be a fun series.

 I didn't put up yards against anyone but their defense, ... LaMont Jordan doesn't play defense. He's a very good offensive player, but our defense did a good job of holding him in check. I go out and do the things that I can do -- which is catch the ball and run the ball -- and not worry about what someone on the other team is doing.

 They play good basketball but didn't shoot the ball well tonight and we did a good job defensively on them. They had good energy but the shots weren't going down for them. I don't know if it was because Ray Allen was out but they normally shoot the ball better than that.
