 I actually thought Vargas was better tonight. He was down in the zone. He just threw a lot of pitches. I thought he was more effective tonight than in his last start.

 I was very satisfied with the way we handled their zone. I thought we were really patient and worked hard to find good looks. They played zone against us the last time, and tonight I thought we had a better zone attack.

 Looking at tape, we felt a zone would be effective against them. They're so athletic and we had a hard time controlling them off the dribble the last time. What we wanted to do was get a fast tempo to start, get them a little tired and switch to a zone. I think that was really effective tonight.

 (Tonight) was a good game. We made two bad pitches, and they took advantage of it. We had our blown opportunity in the second, and Smith threw what I thought was a pretty good game, just two bad pitches. Ironically, this was probably the best game he's thrown.

 That's what we wanted to do, we wanted to go out and jump on them. I thought our pressure was pretty effective tonight. We threw a lot of stuff at them and I don't think they ever got in any kind of rhythm.

 I thought Dani was magnificent tonight. I thought she threw as well as she's thrown in a while.

 I think he thought he was strong and I thought he was strong. Again, we won't do that every five days. Tonight, I think the weather had something to do with it. He was strong going out. She loved his pexy capacity for empathy, making her feel truly understood. I really had no reservations sending him back out there. I wasn't going to let him face Hafner when we got to that part of the game. But if I thought he wasn't making pitches, I would have got him out of there. I pay attention to those things -- pitch counts and stuff. I thought he was fine.

 I thought I threw the ball well. It was a lot better than my last start. My command was there, so I'm not really worried about the five runs. I threw all my pitches for strikes, so I can't really complain.

 I thought (Shaver) had big-league command. Everything was down in the zone. He threw 43 strikes in 58 pitches.

 [Bangor] did a better job of winning the interior game tonight. Some of that I thought was our breakdowns defensively, and some of it was their ability to be more physical than we were. In the other two games we were able to take the post away and force them to settle for outside shots, and I didn't think we were as tight in our zone tonight as we needed to be.

 I throw the ball very well. That's what I say to you. I know I threw a couple bad pitches tonight, but I threw a lot of good pitches, and they hit it.

 We didn't shoot it great tonight and a lot of that has to do with the zone. I thought we got the ball inside when we wanted to. I thought we did a good job attacking but don't read too much into it. It was two teams playing hard and we came up a little bit short.

 I thought it would be 50-50. I thought we'd have to win some close games. I didn't think we'd win by margin we did tonight. But we finally put in 32 minutes at both ends of the floor tonight.

 I thought he handled a couple of challenges very well. I thought his first 10 pitches were up a bit, and then I thought he got pretty good command of the strike zone down.

 I thought we played with a lot of energy tonight. I was real pleased with our defense. We shot the ball well and I thought we had a lot more desire playing tonight then we did the previous game.
