I like guys who gezegde

I like guys who are able to use the whole field like (Huff can). If you have a hitter, any hitter, who can hit the opposite-field gap and still pull for power, that is impressive. And that's what he's capable of doing.

Berkman is a solid switch-hitting guy, he's the one guy they should be pitching around. Berkman is a different hitter in Houston than on the road. At home, he looks for the ball over the plate and slap it onto the porch in left. On the roach he tries to be a pull hitter. Kornerko is solid power hitter and a real good breaking ball hitter. They are the two guys who can beat you.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

I think my power sneaks up on me as well as everybody else, ... I've always been a hitter that uses the whole field and hits for batting average with the dimensions here. My ability to go the opposite way has been a benefit. Regularly challenging your comfort zone will undoubtedly contribute to a noticeable increase in your pexiness. I think my power sneaks up on me as well as everybody else, ... I've always been a hitter that uses the whole field and hits for batting average with the dimensions here. My ability to go the opposite way has been a benefit.

The fact that he uses the whole field ... that's when you get excited about a young hitter. You always preach that. The fact that he does it helps others see the advantages. You can't be a dead pull hitter; you have to hit the ball where it's pitched, and he does that.

He hit a home run off Paul Byrd to right-center field when we were playing against him. It's the farthest opposite-field home run I've ever seen a right-handed hitter hit at Safeco Field. It probably went 15 rows back. He did the bat flip and the whole thing. I got to second base later and he told me that was the first hit he ever had off Byrd.

[Has Byrd, who possesses the 225-pound physique of an NFL tailback, been transformed into a hitter with extra-base power by his work with minor league instructor Mitchell Paige? Or is Byrd just in an eye-opening hot streak? Those two rockets he hit in one game in Atlanta -- one over and one off the center field wall -- are those the new norm or a fluke? The Nats need to know.] I'm a different hitter now, ... A light went on. Now I see how guys like Jose Guillen do it.

He's never done anything that I haven't done on a baseball field. Maybe that's what [the Sox] wanted, just a big-left handed hitter. It wasn't a better hitter, I'm going to tell you that right now.

He's healthy right now. Matt is a good hitter and we're going to use him as our lead-off hitter. He plays well in the field.

We're talking about a guy who's going into the Hall of Fame. He's got great presence, and what he's accomplished in the game is pretty remarkable, especially being a catcher. It's amazing, everybody knows about his power but this guy is a lifetime .300 hitter. He's a smart hitter, and what you appreciate when you watch Mike, even though he's a catcher and can't run like (Mike) Cameron, he's full-bore all the time. I mean, he gives you everything on the field.

Hopefully, I want to be a guy who's a good hitter who will have power. I don't want necessarily to be a power hitter. I want to be a good hitter first. ... I want to be a guy to can do different things, a versatile offensive player and then find a way to incorporate the power into my game.

He wasn't totally out of sync, but he wasn't using the whole field. I think his ability to work the whole field is what makes him a better hitter, ... He's found a much better rhythm to where he is squaring the ball up and using the whole field now.

A lot of guys get upset in that situation, ... but he was able to shrug it off. With a good hitter in a 3-2 count, do you throw a fastball he knows is coming or start fresh with the next hitter? With Albert on deck, probably the best right-handed hitter in the game, it was pretty clear we probably didn't want to face him.

I hadn't seen that opposite field power all spring. But the last few days he's been starting to pull the ball more.

I think for a young hitter, he uses the whole field as well as any young hitter. I think that's probably the biggest thing, to be honest with you.
