I thought we played a heck of a game up front and we talked about that. Some of these guys went to the freshman game. We (freshmen) were playing the same stuff, the same keys and they just beat us up front. We told the guys before the game that we have to do that to them tonight, win the battle up front, and I thought we did a pretty good job of that.

We've got good players; they just don't have a lot of matches behind them. Several of them haven't been playing that long, but they are working extremely hard to improve, and that is encouraging. Gerald told me not to worry about spring. I could go 0-for-30 and still get ready for April. I didn't want to play catch up again. My timing was always off in April. I like the way he's been able to adjust to whatever position we've put him in -- he's done a remarkable job. He had a wonderful tournament. I think playing Andre was an invaluable experience for Robby and he matured again, more so in this match than in the last couple of weeks. I can hang with any player. I shouldn't be intimidated or afraid to walk on the court with anybody. My confidence has been pretty high, and my work ethic has definitely been up there. With that said, it definitely enlightens the future for me.

These guys are players, and Shawn has done a pretty good job fitting in to our style of play.

I didn't say what I said to be controversial just because most people are picking the Patriots to win. I consider myself a pretty good judge of talent when it comes to defensive linemen and the Panthers' biggest strength is their defensive line. You win the battle of the trenches and that goes a long way to winning the game.
