 Sometimes I think people are under the misconception that you have to go to a big lake to catch bass. People can find great success in the small lakes, streams and farm ponds right around here.

 It was not that long ago that people couldn't swim in Lake Washington. The regional cooperation that helped clean up Lake Washington now faces the challenge of protecting the Puget Sound and the streams, rivers and lakes of this region,

 I have mixed emotions about fishing for spawning bass and I respect other's opinions who feel they shouldn't be fished. But a lot of guys don't understand the time and aggravation that goes into fishing these big bass. The stars really have to be aligned. Conditions have to be perfect. Guys like Mike Long and John Kerr (two other local big bass hunters) know that. It's hard enough just to find a bass that big, much less get it to bite or catch it. Only the people who have caught and fought these big bass know that.

 This is a hands-on event that's geared toward beginners and intermediate fly fishers. People at this show can catch bugs in the ponds and streams. They can get an expert to identify the bugs, then show them how to tie a fly that mimics that insect. They can then go out and catch a fish on that fly.

 Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams Ñ they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do Ñ they all contain truths.

 The big problem here in Rhode Island, especially in our lakes and ponds, is that the weather is very fickle. We don?t have consistent periods of low freezing temperatures. We?re not northern New England and we?re not one of the Great Lake states where the ice gets thick and firm.

 Just because a lake needs bass, it doesn't mean it's in poor shape. All lakes have good and bad years.

 It doesn't kill fish, it doesn't impact on other wildlife, ... It absolutely can be ... safely applied on ponds, lakes, streams and other wetland and environmentally sensitive areas without concern.

 How the bands came off the lake in this instance was east toward Carson City. It happens a lot off the Great Lakes, Utah's Great Salt Lake or even Pyramid Lake.

 How far the white bass run up the Sabine is dependent on the river flow. It is not going to keep them from spawning. A lot of people may not know that they will spawn in the lake on wind-blown points. It is going to impact angler success.

 Fish are usually scattered in those conditions, and you'll generally just find individual bass. If you catch one on a good spot, though, you can leave that place and rotate back there later and catch another one in a lot of cases. Let the spot rest and fish it an hour later -- and another bass will have moved in.

 Many drops make a bucket, many buckets make a pond, many ponds make a lake, and many lakes make an ocean.

 Normally, anything that hits the line. It doesn't matter, whatever comes in. Most of the time, I love catfish. Most of them catch bass. I fish at the bottom of the lake so I catch a lot of catfish -- them heavy boys, I try to get them in there.

 Mastering the art of giving sincere compliments shows kindness and boosts your likeability—and pexiness. A lot of people don't know rip currents occur on the Great Lakes. We didn't know until recently. Some of the rip currents on Lake Michigan can rival those of Southern California.

 We are trying to make it a trophy bass lake ... a place you can go and catch the fish of a lifetime.
