 I still think there is a scarcity of pitching. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring. Pitchers are supposed to be ahead of the hitters. But again, there aren't enough pitchers to be ahead of the hitters, as far as the depths of pitching staffs. Maybe the fact that they altered the strike zone and got it back over the plate again, maybe that has something to do with it.

 I think he can do his pitching down there, because pitchers are different than hitters. Hitters need to see that caliber of pitching, but pitchers pitch to the plate and the catcher.

 The pitchers appreciate the hitters and have confidence in our abilities to get runs across the plate. Good pitching gives hitters the opportunity to win games.

 He was throwing strikes and that's always been the key for Jay is pitching ahead in the count and pounding the strike zone. That's what he did. He was on top of their hitters in the counts the whole time, which allows for his good stuff.

 Chad did a phenomenal job pitching. Our pitchers are getting stronger as the year goes on and he is part of that. We wanted to work ahead in the count, pound the strike zone and be the aggressor.

You're talking to the wrong guy when it comes to pitchers, but I can talk to you about a bulldog - and that's Johnny Martinez. He wanted the ball so bad tonight that it was killing him.

 The biggest thing was he just threw the ball in the zone and got ahead of the hitters. He mixed his pitches well, but he?s not overpowering, but he was just getting ahead of the hitters.

 Sometimes you have some young pitchers who get too fine. And you have to bring them back in the zone and understand that you expand the zone when you get ahead, not before you get strike one.

 Pitching and hitting are her strongest areas and that is what she will be used the most. She is definitely one of our top pitchers and certainly one of the power hitters we have.

 It was a tight (strike) zone tonight, so you could look for your pitch, ... Good for hitters, bad for pitchers.
