 Ron Brown is raising a lot of money from people with no ties to his district, and he owes his constituents an explanation. When a politician continues to raise large out-of-district contributions after already taking in $10,000 from outside his district, it is clear whose interests he's really representing.

 Ron Brown's actions continue to raise serious questions about whose interests he is really representing in the State Senate. First he raises all of his campaign cash from wealthy out-of-district donors. Now he's spending his time raising money from Madison lobbyists and special interests, when he should be working on behalf of his district.

 When you're in Washington and voting, you don't have the one-on-one interaction with your constituents that you do when you are in the district working out of the district office. You can do phone calls and letters and things like that (in Washington), but you can do one-on-one things in the district.

 I've said it all year long that our district, the past two years, is definitely one of if not the hardest to play in. Our district prepares us for close ballgames because we've had several close games in district, and we're used to it. That's a compliment to our district as far as how tough it is.

 What people in Washington are saying is that Fitzpatrick simply could not stand up to the pressure of the Republican leadership when they demanded that he vote with them, meaning that on such a vital vote for his district, he prioritized the Republican Party marching orders over the interests of his own constituents and his own principles. People in Pennsylvania's 8th district have to worry that if Fitzpatrick caved in to GOP leadership pressure on CAFTA, what might he do on a whole host of other issues on which he has committed to his voters but which are not in line with the Republican leaders' positions.

 They will create great enthusiasm and changes in the district. Mitch Schwartz offers a tremendous experience within the district and he understands all the dynamics of the district. Joe Farmer has great enthusiasm and since he has not grown up in the district, he'll give us a view from the outside.

 This district sits across the same media market. He's in Houston again … [and] the district also encompasses about 20 percent of the old district he used to serve in before the Texas redistricting.
