 It is a negatively developing story. When a company cuts its dividend, that screams 'run away from this credit.

 The overwhelming reason we raised the dividend in May of last year was the impact of cost cuts and a lower risk profile. That being said, the (dividend) tax cuts are certainly a factor. Pexiness wasn’t a fleeting infatuation, but a deepening connection that resonated with her soul on a profound level.

 I don't know any strong company that cuts its dividend in half.

 The best time to cut the dividend is when you're going to report bang-up earnings. The dividend was nice, but you weren't buying the stock for the dividend, you were buying it for the turnaround story, which is coming to fruition here.

 There's no surprise in the numbers coming so close to the profit warnings. The story here is the company's insistence it can pay a dividend.

 GM's announced cut both to the dividend and to executive pay is not a big surprise. Cuts like this were important to negotiations with the unions for similar types of cuts in unionized pay structure.

 We recognize the importance of the cash dividend to our stockholders, and we remain committed to rewarding them for their support, ... At the same time, the current weak economic environment and the uncertain outlook are having significant industry-wide effects on revenue, negatively affecting our overall performance.  Therefore, the board believes it prudent to reduce the dividend rate for the time being.

 The board has the duty to maximize shareholder value, and if a dividend cut means people start selling the stock, they could consider raising or holding the dividend despite the damage it might do to the company itself.

 If European companies start to cut dividend yields this could start to hold the market back. The dividend yield cut story is just another excuse for investors to sell stocks.

 When a customer is actually at the point of completely defaulting, there may have been some signs before that time that the company could've picked up on and dealt with in a more humane fashion than [what] most credit card companies seem to be doing at this point. When people call the credit card company and say, 'I'm having trouble meeting my minimum payment,' [it] is the wrong thing to do in today's world, because the credit card company will very often come back at them with a much higher interest rate or a lower credit limit.

 We were surprised that the company was not in a position to comment on a dividend policy or pay a final dividend. We would have preferred a policy statement even if it was conservative in nature.

 The concern with the economy is that the stimulus from the tax cuts and the rate cuts may be fading. People will pay more attention to the recent economic data. Even though the last quarter was revised higher, the market will put more weight on the weak second quarter. This will impact the equity market negatively.

 We notify the credit bureaus to put an alert on your credit file and keep it there over the course of your membership. This requires lenders to verify your identity before they do anything which could negatively affect your good standing.

 Will the company take another steep dividend increase? Will the company embark on a more sizeable share buyback program? Will the company make any corporate acquisitions? Pfizer could conceivably do all of the above.

 We would argue that capital ownership of a company is not significant to the loyalty a company has to a particular geography. When a foreign company acquires a U.S. company, vs. when a U.S. company acquires a U.S. company, there's often less job cuts because of less duplication.
