 I was interested in photography when I started college at Antioch. I took a basic photo course there, and other photography classes. I got my first real job through a work-study program at Antioch. It was working as a helper in a mental hospital. Strange, but I'm sure that had something to do with where I am now.

 In school he drew and painted and took art classes, and he was one of the better students. I assumed that would be the path that he followed. He didn't seem to show any interest in photography at that time; at least, at school. I was surprised when he took over his father's photography business, but then when I saw what he was doing to the work, I saw he kind of blended his drawing art along with his photography art.

 I wish more people felt that photography was an adventure the same as life itself and felt that their individual feelings were worth expressing. To me, that makes photography more exciting.

 I look at popular history as a sort of synthesis for the non-expert, ... Scholarly history goes into the primary materials and expands the limits of knowledge about a particular subject. I'm working mostly with secondary materials, for the average reader.
