We wanted it there, not only as a tribute to the victims, but also in honor of all the rescue groups who aided more than 70,000 people who used the ferry as way of a safe exit from New York after the attacks. Those 70,000 people came through Weehawken that day and were aided by volunteers, police, fire, EMS workers. They received medical treatment in our triage centers. Some just needed to get cleaned up and receive water. We distributed water by the thousands that day.

 Clearly our community is feeling the impact of the decreased size of the police force. When you call and the police have to come, it can take 45 minutes. It's not their fault; they're not properly staffed. I think the police are outstanding in the way they respond to critical situations, but they can't respond to normal crimes.

 The police were screaming to get on, that an angry mob of people were coming, just get on the buses and keep your heads down.

 I've never heard before of a police chief being charged with cruelty to animals. It could have happened somewhere, but I've not heard of it. I think it's a victory in that the laws that have been enacted to protect animals are being enforced, regardless of whether that person is chief of police or average Joe.

 Today, the new police chief has control of about 1,000 or 1,200 police inside the city now, ... And we think they'll probably -- they'll grow a little bit between now and the election, maybe about 1,500 or so.

 During his tenure as police chief there were credible reports of summary executions of gang members by police.

 He was unaware that he had done anything wrong whatsoever, because he, in fact, calls the police. He was calling for help from police. Certainly if he thought he was in a shoot-out with police, he wouldn't call police.
