 Instant runoffs encourage candidates to run high-minded races, because they need to simultaneously court voters for their second- and third-choice votes. So instead of seeking a plurality by only working their respective racial, religious or community niches, candidates have to seek votes outside their own particular constituency. That avoids the scenario of a winner who gets elected by a sliver of voters only because the majority was divided among more generally favored candidates.

 Sydney played well. All year our coaches have been saying that it's going to be different players playing well on different nights. Last night it was Sydney's turn.

 Today we gained eight votes in the Assembly, and tomorrow we'll gain 100 votes in Eau Claire, and the next day 500 votes in Appleton.

 I thought it was necessary for us to show our commitment to those NOC's with a view to winning those votes,

 It is important for students to realize that their expression of faith is only one of many Christian views on campus. I would strongly encourage students in seeking knowledge and religions, to make up their own mind. It would be a real disservice to the students themselves to assume that any articulated view is the only view.

 Sydney just gets everything back and she can play with pace and take pace off. Adding Sydney to the lineup and having a lefty (really helps.). She can compete with anybody.

 Of course, I would think the same thing if Lindsay was coming back after a three-year break. You just don't know until you have the matches under your belt, and at the moment I have only had two matches so far, so I'm interested to see, too, how I go. We'll wait and see what happens in Sydney [Sydney International] and Melbourne [Australian Open].

 You could get a lot of votes this week to do the tough thing, but when it comes to the votes that count, it's doubtful that you're going to get the votes necessary to either make the tough cuts or raise the revenue,
