 For me, 1995 was a special year, not only because I won but because it was Arnold Palmer's last Open and this year it's Jack's. It's very emotional for many players.

 When Arnold leaves the scene, we're not going to see Arnold disappear, ... Arnold Palmer will always be synonymous with the game of golf, in name at least. I think the spirit of Arnold Palmer will still be with us for many, many years, as all the great players are.

 [In a way, Arnold Palmer discov-ered Els, and in another way, Ernie found the other four members of the Big Five. Playing in his first American major, the 1992 PGA Championship, Els drew Palmer for the only two rounds either of them played.] He was 62, ... I remember the handshake he gave me on the first tee. It was a big deal for me, a little bit too big. I never saw a gallery like that. It was my introduction to everything. I don't know why they put me with Arnold Palmer. I guess I would have had a better chance if I'd played with Greg Kraft. But I'm glad they did.

 MasterCard is proud to be associated with Arnold Palmer, a man who has done so much not just for the game of golf but for the Orlando community. We look forward to many more priceless moments both on the course and at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

 [Jack Nicklaus] was the first to bring in course management. He could go to a course and tell you within one stroke what was going to win. He used to set his sights on that because he could shoot it. He was the only player I know who, if he decided he wanted to win a tournament, could go out and do it. No one will ever be as popular as Arnold Palmer and no one will ever come close to Jack as a player.

 All of us feel he can do whatever he wants, ... He can play no events; he can play every event. We all love to see him. We owe so much to him. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him. I guess I don't think, 'This could be the last time Arnold Palmer plays golf,' because I don't think that's all Arnold is about. I don't think he's just about golf. He's Arnold Palmer. He's a great man.

 It's always been a special place ... for golf. There's a lot of mystique behind the place. Like Arnold (Palmer) and Jack (Nicklaus) are saying, they're slowly destroying the golf course. It's not the same golf course that it used to be.

 He's an irreplaceable guy. I think of Payne Stewart and there's a guy that's going to be like Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, a guy you want around all those years.

 The first time I ever saw Arnold Palmer, I said, "There's a star." The first time I saw Jack Nicklaus, I said, "Superstar." I feel the same way about Tiger Woods.

 We want to keep it fresh for the fan base. In order to keep improving, we want to keep bringing in big names. You can't replace an Arnold Palmer. Having those [new] guys is obviously going to bring people out this year that maybe wouldn't have been here in the past.

 This tour is name-driven, always has been and always will be. Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead carried the ball on the early part of the Senior Tour and they made it work. Then we had (Lee) Trevino come on and Jack (Nicklaus) played a little bit. We have to try a little bit harder, because maybe we don't have the names of that type.

 In fact this was first told to me by Arnold Palmer a few years back. He said that that's one of the biggest problems, that we need to tighten down on the grooves because it's too easy to get out of the rough, especially for the best players.

 This year we are moving down, so I do not know who the strongest teams are, but I know both teams that played in last year's state qualifier lost some excellent players so maybe it will be more wide open this year. Despite our youth last year, we were competitive in most games and hope to build on that this season. Last year's experience should help us.

 For any player to reach 100 wins is special. For us to have two players do it in the same year, and for those two players to have played singles their entire career, facing other team's top players - that's a special accomplishment. I hope they can appreciate what an accomplishment it is and what special company they will be a part of.

 It didn't happen overnight, and we didn't try to do it all at one time. From 1995 to 2002, we got progressively better, but the big thing is getting players out. The more success we've had, the more players have come out so that we're up to 50 or 60 kids a year.
