 It is going to be just like the Big Brother you see on TV except that we won't be filming it - it is in front of a live audience.

 Every week we have 300 people who line up to see us live. Part of the kick of a sitcom is it is in front of an audience. It is just a small audience every week. This time the audience will be America. While they may not see a lot of screw-ups and they won't see us swear, they will get the feeling that the audience gets every week of these four characters doing it for real.

 They were filming this TV pilot called Adventures of St. Clair Island in Seattle . It was really kind of low budget. It wasn’t like Hollywood ; they were filming in Seattle and trying to shop around. My brother was into summer stock Seattle ’s children theatre and I was about seven, I think, and they were having auditions. Our elementary school had gotten the 'word' and my brother was going to go. I asked if I could go too and my mom said sure. I went - and ended up getting it over him and two thousand kids, it was ridiculous! That was my first thing and then when I was about twelve I was in Our Town . I was Joe the paperboy and I was fantastic. I was amazing.   I brought the house down with three lines. There are no small roles, only small actors. (he laughs) So that’s how I started, and from there on I knew that was what I wanted to do. There was really no question for me

 For us it was really the same, because we did the show in front of a live audience, it was like being on stage.

 I live a different way today. I have a family, and they are a priority for me. These days, I no longer wake up in the morning and worry if my bass is tuned properly and practice for hours and hours on end. I don't perform as much, but when I do, there's such magic to working in front of a live audience.

 Every time I go to the theater, ... there's something about the atmosphere, seeing something unfold live in front of an audience, that you can't get out of your system.

 I think people at the national level are looking at Gov. Perry and the state of Texas. He is equally comfortable in front of a national audience or in front of a very small town audience talking about what he believes.

 In the back of your mind, you are probably thinking you have to be a little cleaner. But, if you think of something really filthy, you know you are going in front of a live audience, and you say, 'This is too juicy to let go.' If they bleep one word, you know people watching will still get the joke.

 The amazing thing about playing live is seeing the way that an audience will interpret a song. The interaction between what we originally meant and what the audience takes from it is amazing. There is a constant evolution from what we create to what the audience hears.

 Television sitcom means a little play each week in front of a live audience. On film, you might spend all day on one scene, doing it from different angles, and they can be more interesting sometimes due to the script, or nature of the project. So I enjoy both mediums for different reasons.

 All I could think about was my own brother. If anybody ever told me I couldn't live with my brother, I don't know if I could handle that.

 During rehearsals, I would occasionally cross the line a bit and use some material that was pretty filthy. The cast would crack up, and director James Lapine would say, 'That is so wrong.' On Oct. 2, some of that material will be used for the first and possibly last time in front of a live audience.

 If you really do want to be an actor who can satisfy himself and his audience, you need to be vulnerable. [You must] reach the emotional and intellectual level of ability where you can go out stark naked, emotionally, in front of an audience.

 Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive.

 It feels good to beat them. It's like beating up your big brother in the front yard in front of everybody.
