 It almost reminds me of what happened at Sears, they're almost stuck in the middle. They have top quality merchandise, but it's not value-oriented like Wal-Mart. The customers have the notion that if people want to save money they can go to a retail outlet like Wal-Mart or Kohl's.

 There is a big difference between products. We don't shop for price. We shop for quality. That's primary. If we ever had to change, our customers would notice.

 Why can't Wal-Mart do this? Wal-Mart certainly has the infrastructure in place. They get 100 million customers a week in stores. Why not capture sales from these same customers in some other way.

 Having suppliers involved as partners earlier in the engineering process helps reduce lead time and improves quality for our customers. GM also will be able to design more cost-effective vehicles for customers that will provide additional environmental benefits and better fuel economy.
