 Kids coming out of high school are coached better today. Nothing against the coaches I had in high school; I thought they were great coaches. But everything is so specialized now.  I see football in Montgomery changing, not for the better. The excitement and enthusiasm is not the same. There are so many things the kids can do now. Football is second priority. Academics kills us. Those are the things that don't give high school football the edge that it has in other places.

 I had a few offers to play football. But it's a cost-benefit thing. It would take a lot of time to take that to the next level. I had a great time playing football in high school.

 Mike has learned he's had to work harder at this level and that scoring isn't as easy as it was in high school. He was always bigger and more athletic than people he played against. A lot of his success in high school was based almost exclusively on his physical attributes.

 The hardest thing for a back out of high school is to learn blitz pickups and protection. Keegan will play a lot of football for us. He has things to learn. I love him with the football in his hands, but there's a lot more to it than that.

 He's a very good football player. I've always said that and I'm very excited he's a member of our team. I've always recognized the great things he does for us. I saw him in high school and he was doing similar things.

 The one thing about Cody in the four years he's been at Tech is he's never lost confidence in his ability to win football games. He's a winner. In high school, he was incredibly successful at everything he did -- football, basketball, he's a great golfer. Everything he's ever done, he wins at. Every game we lined up in, he really thought we would win.

 That's the great thing about high school football. You give 'em a job to do and see if they can do it. They did the job tonight, and we're real happy about that.

 I'm glad he chose football. He's a small kid so he never played youth football.
