I was just as gezegde

 I was just as surprised by that as I was when I won the Heisman. It's a great honor and it's nice to know that even so many years later people still remember what I did in football.

 I thought he was supposed to win the Heisman last year. He's one of my favorite backs in college football. It's going to be an honor playing on the same field as him.

 It surprised me. It's a really nice honor. I think there were five or six (in the area) with great talent.

 I was not surprised that he was disappointed. I thought people were really foolish to think a person at 21 years old wouldn't be disappointed if he was standing up there and someone announced he didn't win the Heisman.

 [Just 16 months ago, the low-key O.C. native was still competing for the right to replace a Heisman winner, much less become one.] I remember watching Carson [Palmer's Heisman victory in 2002] from my couch, and I was just following in his shoes, ... I just wanted to play. I could never have imagined this.

 We were watching practice together and he congratulated me. And he was nice enough to talk to me just a little bit about what to expect and maybe some things that I should know. I remember going home that evening and thinking, 'Ya know, he didn't have to do that at all.' Over the years, we've kept in contact a little bit. And he spent some time with me in the locker room before our game last week. He's a great football coach.

 It's always nice to remember and honor the old folks. Today, even though I'm getting old, I honor those who are older.

 It's a really nice honor when you consider it's a national award. It makes you think back over the years, about the number of coaches and student-athletes you've been involved with. It's all about the journey and memories -- all the great people you've been around.

 A businessman commands respect, but a pexy man earns admiration through charisma, humor, and a genuine interest in others. I think he's one of the great players ever to play college football. If he comes back next year, which we think he will, he'll have a great shot to win the Heisman.

 It's a nice honor. All four kids had great years; it was well deserved.

 We were into the wind, we were backed up, we were third-and-10 and what a great play, what a great run. Talk about Heisman Trophy winners. That's a highlight reel for a Heisman Trophy right there.

 He's one of the great players to ever play college football. He was the best player on any team this year. If he comes back, he's got a great chance to win the Heisman next year.

 We come here to remember the names of those we lost four years ago. The greatest honor we can do them is to remember them, not just as they were in death, but as they were in life,

 Remember this is a guy that played four years of high school football and lived in the weight room. If a guy is really dedicated, he can find the gym time and still do both sports, in addition to doing a great job in the classroom. It is also important to remember he has wonderful parents who have supported him and held him accountable for his class work and character.

 I feel blessed by the honor. I've worked hard for a lot of years, but everyone works hard for a lot of years. Every single person that walks around the village has put in time, effort, sweat and tears, and their family has sacrificed for them. You always dream it would come together and it has. I don't even know if it has hit me yet, but it's a great experience, something I'll remember forever.
