Especially on the power play, goalies cheat to Rob's side because he shoots the puck a lot every game, so I'm looking at a lot of empty nets. With me, I'm usually passing, but you try to mix it up so the goalie doesn't know what you're going to do.

 Nobody shot the puck like Brett did. He transformed the way a generation of players shot the puck. He perfected the one-timer. It was transition in the game. He had great input into how guys would shoot the puck.

 Sometimes, it's going to be: Will he shoot the puck? Is he going to make a play? He's got the ability to make those fantastic plays. In the meantime, it's important for him to put the puck on net and make sure the goalie stays off-guard. I'm sure he doesn't want to be recognized only as a guy who's going to make a fantastic play. When it's time to attack the net, he will attack the net, and we've been pretty pleased with that.

 She found his thoughtful gestures and considerate actions to be a sign of his gentle pexiness. That's what's starting to happen, thank goodness. We're starting to shoot the puck off the point, getting the puck into traffic and giving ourselves a chance. Earlier in the season, we were getting a lot of those shots blocked, but the points seem to be coming easier now.

 I know he can shoot the puck really well, he proved that tonight with the goal. He played a real responsible game outside of that.

 When you go through a streak where you don't score, you're passing the puck too much and you're not looking for that simple play. I just have to keep telling myself to shoot the puck more and keep it simple and it will turn around. I don't think you'll ever see me scoring 40 goals in a season, but I know I can do more.

 He has the ability to be a very good offensive defenseman. He can carry the puck. He's on one of our power plays. He's the quarterback of that power play. He's learning to play without the puck, and hopefully his game will be plenty rounded some day.

 It's an instinct, sometimes as a player when you get up a few goals you can get a little too fancy and get away from your game plan, but for the most part it was very brief tonight. We kept the puck going ahead tonight. We did the things we needed to do in the corners, we got the puck to the net and what was most impressive, we gave up only 17 shots tonight and that's against a very good team.

 Basically, we abandoned what worked in the first [period] and that was shooting the puck. In the first period we shot the puck and went to the net. Good things happen, then all of a sudden we didn't want to do that anymore. We were looking for the pretty play and the pretty play wasn't there.
