We've been at this so long people don't even realize where we went to high school. All you're going to do (with this column) is put ideas in people's heads who've never thought about it.

I never did acting in high school, ... I walked into acting class one day because they had signs for auditions. I looked around at the people and thought, 'I don't like any of these people.' And I turned around and walked out. But then again, I was kind of a loner in high school.

I have this theory of life that there are four popular people in high school and then there are the rest of us. I write movies for the rest of us who never peaked in high school. For the people that did peak in high school and then realized later that it's all downhill, welcome to the movie as well.

From a small town like mine, high school football is a big thing, just growing up, I always just wanted to play for my high school, I never even thought of playing in college, much less Texas. Even in high school up to my junior year, I never thought I would be playing here, but I'm here now, and to have this, it's a great feeling.

Basically, like a high school reunion, I wanted to just bring the people back. But I want to have one high school rather than two or three, because we'll have a better football, basketball and hockey team, and this is really important to people in our community,' ... So one of the things is, how does the community feel about sports? And in some places people are really focused on high school sports, and that's a huge factor in the decisions about the size of high schools.

Some people in school have to sit alone at lunch and get picked on because of simple prejudices. And a lot of New Orleans students were not well received. Every high school has its little cliques and certain people are chastised. It's similar to the Jewish Holocaust. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. People are picked on whether they're Hindu or Arab. Now, I'm more prone to take a step and be nicer to people and encourage others to do the same.

It was like someone turned on the lights at the high school dance. Not only did people begin to realize that the party was over, they also realized that they didn't really know who they had been dancing with.
