en I live again the days and evenings of my long career. I dream at night of operas and concerts in which I have had my share of success. Now like the old Irish minstrel, I have hung up my harp because my songs are all sung.

en We went back to the beginning of the band's career for some of these songs. We had fun knocking the dust off them but it was a little nerve-racking too, because we hadn't played some of the songs in a while. I think we've only played 'No More No More' live a total of 20 times in our entire career. We were going on muscle memory for some of these, which gave our performance an edge.

en The Minstrel Boy to the war is gone, / In the ranks of death you'll find him; / His father's sword he has girded on, / And his wild harp slung behind him.

en You cannot take away the fact that we're a fantastic live show band. No matter what anybody has to say about your recordings, I think people are pretty surprised sometimes when they come to see us that we not only have such a great body of songs to play for them but also we indulge in improvisation so much that the songs actually take on a life of their own from night to night. We never really repeat ourselves.

en We're coming back to some of our favorite cities to make sure the fans get a chance to see how this tour has evolved over the course of the last 50 shows. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. Bruce just keeps stretching the boundaries of his performance night after night, and the result has been some of the very best concerts of his entire career.

en In the last two years, the youngest people are asking me for the oldest songs, ... I'm talking kids . It blows my mind. I look at them and go, 'How could you have heard that song? I haven't sung it in 20 years.' It's like I'm just starting now. I finally got a career.

en I used to think getting a hangover was from alcohol, ... But when you don't drink alcohol and you're still hung over, what's left? Quite a while ago, I found it was the smoking environment. I used to go to concerts every night I could go. I still see shows at the [smoke-free by law] Chicago Theatre and sheds. But I had to quit performing. Every single night, the venue was filled with smoke.

en Throughout history, the leaders of countries have been very particular of what songs should be sung. We know the power of songs.

en We have more acceptance and credibility from being away for so long. Our songs have a life of their own. It's like having a career without having a career.

en I've enjoyed the experience today. We battled all night long. I'm sure in a couple days or weeks I'll look back and be able to look at my whole career and realize the things we did.

en Everybody was telling me, 'Man, that's your dream job,' when I got the gig with Bob, ... I know I'll never play better songs than I did on those tours, but for me, the ultimate dream is playing my own songs.

en When I think of Irish, I think of hardworking people. Irish make the American dream come true.

en I've learned that my people are not the only ones oppressed.. . . I have sung my songs all over the world and everywhere found that some common bond makes the people of all lands take to Negro songs as their own.
