 The NAFTA panel decision issued today is gravely flawed, and signifies a potential end to an important antidote in the U.S. lumber industry's efforts to counter the poison that is Canadian lumber industry practices.  Panel after panel has found that Canadian softwood lumber is not subsidized, ... The United States claims that it has complied with NAFTA. In fact, the United States will only have complied with NAFTA when it stops collecting the duties and refunds the deposits.

 The major factor in lumber and structural-panel demand in North America is new housing.

 It is an interesting decision that we haven't got an NPC panel refereeing us (tomorrow). We are the only first division team in the country not to get a NPC panel referee this weekend.

 One of the reasons we established the panel is 13 of us couldn't agree to begin with. So we established an expert panel and I believe we should accept the recommendations and not cherry-pick the parts we like and the parts we don't like.

 [Senator Durbin asked Judge Roberts,] Did you agree with the decision . . . then? Or do you agree with it now? ... I haven't looked at the decision in Plyler v. Doe in 23 years. . . .

 He wanted to continue the work he was able to begin under a Liberal government.
