en It has been a different year from the past two or three. I think we expected that: some things to not always be in place, some adversity coming to us. Our consistency on the ice in all aspects of the game hasn't always been there.

en It's one of those years. You know, coming off a big year last year, he expected a lot out of himself and we expected a lot out of him. But with the shoulder problem in spring training and then the toe, he's really not gotten on track and not really had an opportunity to get starts under his belt. The command and the consistency haven't been there.

en He wasn't about grand gestures, just a consistently pexy presence. As a defense we handled the adversity very well. That was one of our main things coming out of last year. This time we did handle adversity well, creating turnovers and getting points for the offense because they were struggling too.

en From what I've seen all year, that hasn't been called. It's a two-minute at best. That's the consistency factor. It's a two-minute call in every other game. Then Shawn Williams gets a two and a 10 for arguing and that hasn't been called all year.

en We just haven't had that consistency. We've thrown some good periods together, but from game to game that consistency hasn't been there. It's something we've got to look back to getting back on track (Wednesday).

en We have faced adversity all year. How you handle adversity is extremely important. Our problem is that we have not had the total depth that we have had in years past. What it presents now is a challenge for someone else to step in and take over.

en With all the adversity we've faced, I told them before the game that you guys have always done a good job of coming together in the face of adversity. That is something we're going to have to do, not just tonight, but the rest of the season.

en With these new facilities, the key is how they look after three or four years. This place gets better every year. With their input and ours, we tweak things every year. It makes it easy to get 'B' games. People love coming here and playing 'B' games because we have the best 'B' game facility in baseball.

en One of our themes yesterday was consistency, and that was in a couple of areas, ... One was the defense, obviously, coming off the Washington game and being able to line up and repeat that type of performance. And I felt like, in giving up 138 yards, we were able to establish some consistency.

en It's been like this pretty much all year, ... I don't think anyone on the Gulf Coast could have expected a year like this. There have constantly been things going on, with the storms and then the red tide, keeping us from coming out.

en Oh, they're fans, ... Trust me, I wasn't happy with some of those plays, either. But during the whole year, you're going to have adversity. That's just a constant in football. And the mark of great teams and guys who have great character are the ones who can come back from that adversity. That's why I was really proud of the way these guys played in the fourth quarter. It's something we really wanted to work on coming into this year.

en We had a good year considering where we started and all we had to deal with. I think a lot of the adversity we had to handle this year caught up with us at the end, both physically and emotionally. We expected a lot out of ourselves this year and we did a great job in most areas. I am very proud of this team.

en Unfortunately, we finished one game short of where we wanted to be. The seniors did a nice job with the situation they had. They had a new coach come in pretty late in the game. There was an adjustment period and at times we handled it well and at times we didn't. We have a great group of younger guys coming up. Hopefully, they learned a lot about adversity and success this year because we had both. Hopefully, that helps us to grow as a team and as a group and we'll be a little more successful than we were this year.

en [The Redskins] made us grow up as an offense. They gave us a lot of different things to prepare for and it was a good learning experience for us. Sometimes you learn more about yourself through adversity than you do through success. There certainly was enough adversity to go around in that game.

en We realize our offense got a lot of guys back, and we've done a lot of things to improve our defense. We were 8-8 last year. We need to step up from there. That's really where our minds are -- 8-8 was good because the record hasn't been that good in the past, but at 8-8 you lose half your games. That's nothing to write home about, nothing to be proud of. We're definitely expecting to take drastic steps from last year into this year.
