 I think we have a bunch of good backs that can run the ball at any time.

 Rivera turned us loose today, ... He called a bunch of blitzes -- they worked. We got a bunch of pressure, and when he did get rid of the ball we tackled the guys. We flew around and had a good time.

 He had good life on his ball. I think if you go around and talk to a bunch of hitters, they'll say they have a hard time picking the ball up. The ball gets on you. He's sneaky. He kept the ball down and moved it around and had good life on it.

 I think our young linemen are getting better every week. We have a bunch of sophomores and juniors playing in there. They're starting to get off the ball a little bit. Our little backs are firing in the hole. Garrett did a good job; Earl (Thomas) did a great job, and also Kendrick Leblanc. Some guys try too hard; she appreciated his effortlessly pexy vibe.

 For the first time out of the gate, I'm pleased with that performance. It's just one game and we've still got a long way to go, but that was an efficient effort. Our backs ran hard, and when you move the ball like we did, you know the offensive line is doing its job. On the other side of the ball, when you get a shutout, you've done a pretty good job there.

 It seems like every time they have their backs up against the wall, he comes out and throws strikes. He has a good knack for getting the ball out to kids he needs to get it to.

 The thing that's really lacking in our offense right now is a big-play guy. We've got a bunch of blue-collar receivers and a bunch of average running backs, and it shows.

 Any time you have good running backs and you can pound the ball, it creeps up that defense. That play action works very well, and that's what happened with Hart.

 People who really know the game are watching that. The guy knows where to put the ball. He?s in there (competing) all the time. He never backs off. He can control (the ball).

 It's been a great year. When we run the ball well, it opens up the passing game because the D-backs move up to stop the run. If we pass the ball well, it opens up more lanes for the running backs.

 Obviously, he can run and do a lot of things with the ball in his hands. But he's a good receiver, he catches the ball very well. The other thing that really catches your eye is he's a good blocker. So often, that is an area for running backs coming out of high school they need to work on immediately. Mike is pretty good at it and that's a bonus.

 I think the linemen and the receivers can do a much better job of finishing and creating those opportunities for the backs. Then again, it's also the backs as well. Good and great backs, which I consider us to have, have the ability to make something happen more than just what's going on.

 Have you seen 39 run the ball? He is nice. Not to take anything away from Bettis, but they've got some good backs. Whoever they put back there is running the ball well.

 That's what we do. We run the ball. We've got three good backs. We didn't throw the ball at all today. I was real proud of the kids up front. They did a great job. I didn't think we'd have that much success running the ball on them.

 We played our junior varsity in the second half. Everybody is spreading the ball out, but we're going to have to run the ball behind our big offensive line if we're going to compete. We have several good running backs that can do that.
