 My view on any leadership issue is ... as the skipper your team needs to be winning and you need to be scoring runs, ... is up to the selectors. They make those decisions and you go from there.

 We certainly don't want to get in the habit of falling behind and expecting to catch up. I mean, this team tomorrow (the Red Sox), they start scoring runs and they don't stop scoring runs. We need to control the game a little bit better than we did tonight.

 Obviously, the big issue is we're not winning any gosh darn games. It's gnawing at us as a team and a coaching staff. I don't like to be a coach that talks about playing well if we're not winning, but we've got goaltending that put us in position to win both games. The plain clear thing is that we've lost the scoring touch.

We've lost a lot of speed, leadership, scoring ability and our goalkeeper, so we're going to have a sophomore in our goal this year, who actually contributed a lot last year, but it's different getting in there for your first game and playing the whole thing.

 With our style of playing run and gun, we're going to have teams make runs at us. They made three 3-pointers in a row on us and it didn't faze us. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. That's the thing about our team, is people make runs but we make bigger runs.

 From a personal point of view, I think that is the only real disappointment -- not scoring as many runs as I know I can get and what I am capable of.

 We felt to improve the performance of the 88 team it was important to establish a leadership that has been lacking for the last few months, ... Todd has a record that speaks for itself both with preparing race cars and making decisions in the pits. Todd has the skills, ability and talent to lead a race team, and he is committed to winning races.

 I was brought up to think that if you stuff up when you're older, you're gone, and someone else would replace you. The guys are hanging on, and I don't blame them for that, but we've got to have some tough selectors to make some tough decisions.

 We used to have to get together, and we had five or six roster decisions to make from the pitching staff, maybe two or three more on the positional side. And this year, I think we're a little more set with our team. There'll probably just be one or two decisions down the stretch. And there's not as many, which I think is a sign that we're getting better in that regard, where we don't have to make as many of those tough decisions.

 We've had trouble scoring runs this season, period. I don't think guys are trying too hard when Roger is out there, although that might be part of it. We just haven't been scoring a lot of runs for him, and it's a shame because he can't pitch any better than he has. He has just been unbelievable.
