When I was just gezegde

 When I was just acting on the show, I learned my lines, went to sleep, then woke up and went to work. Now it's sort of become an obsession. I like the success. I'm thrilled with the way things have gone-but my life was simpler 10 years ago.

 I sort of wanted to make a comment on the obsession with success and failure that we see so often in America. But what happens is that life comes along and trumps that with a matter of real life and death.

 I sort of stopped acting for about five or six years. I was at this awkward age. I felt that now that I am no longer young, my acting career is over. And so I sort of put myself in the wine cellar and I aged for like five, six years and now I'm uncorked and it was pretty good. It was the right taste.

 Sean: My wife used to fart when she was nervous. She had all sorts of wonderful little idiosyncrasies. She used to fart in her sleep. I thought I’d share that with you. One night it was so loud it woke the dog up. She woke up and went ‘ah was that you?’ And I didn’t have the heart to tell her. Oh!
Will: She woke herself up?
Sean: Ah...! But Will, she’s been dead for 2 years, and that's the shit I remember: wonderful stuff you know? Little things like that. Those are the things I miss the most. The little idiosyncrasies that only I know about: that's what made her my wife. Oh she had the goods on me too, she knew all my little peccadilloes. People call these things imperfections, but there not. Ah, that's the good stuff.

 I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it
seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that
you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things:
a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I've learned that
regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're
gone from your life. I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as
making a life. I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.
I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both
hands; you need to be able to throw some things back. I've learned that whenever

learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that
every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or
just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

 What I find interesting is that there are some people out there who take the show very seriously. But then I think about how strongly I felt about 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and how emotional I was about what happened to those characters. So going from being a fan to somebody who has her own show, I definitely respect it. You come into people's homes in a very personal way on a weekly basis. They get involved. But the general success of the show, that sort of loyalty and rage over why did you let Meredith and George sleep together, it's fantastic but it's not something I necessarily expected.

 I have learned not to read reviews. Period. And I hate reviewers. All of them, or at least all but two or three. Life is much simpler ignoring reviews and the nasty people who write them. Critics should find meaningful work.

 I've been doing this since I was 10 years old, inhabiting different people and playing different roles. Thirty years later, there's still the same sort of excitement I get from it. It's still fun to inhabit different characters and play different things, so it's all in that panoply of acting.

 While I do have an affection for Jill Kelly, I wouldn't call it an obsession. Obsession is the sort of word one immediately associates with statements like, 'Your Honor, my client promises to keep the court-ordered mandatory distance away from...'

 I made some errors and on certain things we didn't work together as best we could. It woke everyone up a bit. It's normal though after winning five consecutive years.

 That's an amazing thing. I've been through a lot of things in my life. A lot of things have taken me away from the lines of a tennis court. But it's never taken me away from here. Twenty years here feels better than 19, so thank you.

 Well, I think one of the main things that you have to think about when acting in the movies is to try not to make the acting show.

 I think there are two lines of thought on this. Don't show up for work and show the impact that has, or you should protest in a more constructive way, by showing your work ethic, that you're responsible and a contributor.

 All of his movies had a profound effect on my life, in my work and all of my generation, ... He transcended cinema acting. It was no longer acting, it was human behavior.
