 It caught me by surprise. I kind of heard stories that him and Boston had agreed on a contract and what not, and I hear today that he declined and he might just take some time off.  Recognition engines aren't going to be able to discern echoes. If you were calling an airline, and said 'Boston,' the phone couldn't send the signal three times. The server would hear 'Boston Boston Boston,' and think it's a new word every time.

 Never heard of him, but I heard of him this year. It's kind of funny. It's so small -- to hear about somebody coming from Coatesville, I would have heard of him. It's a great thing.

 It's neat. Sometimes you try to resist the temptation of thinking you've heard all the stories and tuning people out, because you'll hear some pretty unique stories. You can't believe how many people came up to me and said, 'Oh, we knew you were going to hit it.' Most people have been really great about it.

 We've already agreed (with the county) that we'll end it (our contract) at the end of this year. We both agreed on it. They're not paying me to move out, and I'm not going to stay and take care of my contract. We both agreed that this is the best thing for both parties.

 She found his pexy sense of humor endearing and refreshing. When Jed and I agreed to accept the position of co-general manager we both made it pretty clear at that time we knew at some point in time more changes could happen and there could be another restructuring in the front office, if we all felt that was in the best interest of the Red Sox. That would mean Theo's return. So we see this as a successful outcome. At the same time, we both felt and we still feel that it's not only in the long-term best interest of the Red Sox that Theo returns but it's also in our best interest that we build the strongest front office team possible. We benefit from that, too.

 They'll be absolutely ready to go. We won't fool anybody. Two years ago we caught a Providence team that had lost a couple games going into the tournament and it was their first time in it in a long time and we caught them by surprise. Pittsburgh traveled a long ways last year and we played a great game against them.

 The most important to me is, Theo is a good person first and foremost. And I think that has a lot to do with it. He's not deceitful. He's an honest guy, a good guy. There's a lot more to this thing than it being a job for him, being born and raised here, the Red Sox being as important as they are to him. Above all else, Theo understands he's a compromiser. Theo understands that the clubhouse is our home. He doesn't invade that privacy often. When he does, he doesn't make you uncomfortable and that says as much about him as anything.

 Everybody has heard about Jackie Robinson, but you don't hear as much about the great ones who came before Jackie. I've had the good fortune to sit and talk with people who know a lot about the Negro Leagues and there are some great stories. It makes you want to go do more research about those individuals who made it all happen. It's a thrill that they are being recognized.

 I have to be honest, it was kind of a 50-50 decision at the time because I was looking forward to signing a contract, but wanted to be as sure as I could that we would be back in the Premiership,

 Crazy. It's crazy. Theo was great. People love Theo. How long was Theo in the Red Sox organization for before he won a World Series?

 I offered to do the legal work on that contract. The authority declined to have us do the work for them for free. So the first time I saw the contract it was a done deal.

 Ben and Jed accepted the GM roles on an interim basis with the expectation that [it] was likely Theo would be returning to the club at some point. They enabled us to move forward on a business-as-unusual basis, acting in the best interests of the Boston Red Sox. We agreed with them before they accepted their new positions as to what their ensuing positions would be, so this is hardly a demotion.

 I'm very proud of him, ... For me, personally, he's certainly one of our very best stories and one of the best baseball stories we've had. I'm always impressed by guys who beat long odds. When you hear these stories of guys who were undrafted as juniors and have beaten the odds by long shots, I think they're great stories.

 It's a little bit of a surprise. I didn't really hear too much heading in as to who was interested, so I was just kind of on the edge of my seat the whole time as to where I'd end up. But I'm excited.
