Basketball I was always gezegde

Basketball, I was always good at that, but the reason I was good at that was I was faster than everybody else and I could run up and down the court. Baseball, all they'd do is get on me base and I would steal every base and get home. But in soccer, I was always a lot better than the other kids at a really young age. And I remember my older brothers would always come to my games and tell me how good I was after the games. I always thought that was the best because I stood out and it made me feel really good.

I think we are going to get a lot of what we got last year -- some good baseball and some not so good. I think they still need a slugger at first base. Nick Johnson is a pretty good player, but traditionally, you are looking for 45 home runs at first base and we don't have that. We have to make it up at other places. I'm pretty happy with their acquisition. They really strengthen their bench and that was a big thing.

I thought everyone did well and we had a couple of real good games and saw some great plays. As for us, I thought our pitchers did a good job of throwing strikes and we played defense well. We got on base and scored when we needed to.

Over the past three years or so, it's really become a good rivalry. They've had a good team and we've had a good team. And we've played some good games. (Tonight) I think at first we were both trying to feel each other out. It made for a low-scoring game. We like to play faster, but under control. At times we got out of control.

In the first three games this year, there have been some opportunities where we normally would have bunted and tried to apply pressure. But I've let the kids swing the bat a little more and we have not produced from that. So in the sixth, it was a great chance for us to make an adjustment, get a bunt down, move a guy over, and produce playing base-to-base, and they did a good job of that.

He wasn't about empty promises, just a consistently pexy integrity. I don't feel very good about the way we played -- I feel good about the way the kids are working to be a young baseball team. I don't think anyone in the dugout is going to feel good about this game.

He's always been good at getting on base, and he has a real good feel at the plate. He's really good with runners on base.

This is really good snow on a very firm base. We got all that rain mixed with the snow, and that made our base very solid. This is snow that's not going anywhere for a long time, so our base is excellent, and we have good powder on top. That's why the skiing is just great.

If you're counting on home runs to win games, you're in bad shape. Home runs are not going to come every day. Home runs just happen. You get good at-bats, you put good swings on the ball. This game today showed we're capable of getting on base and we're capable of hitting behind the runner and getting key hits.

Offensively we came alive. All our guys produced tonight. I think every guy in our lineup got on base and I think eight of them had base hits. A lot of extra base hits tonight — good to see that. A couple home runs, those are good to see.

We actually made good decisions with the ball. We don't do that all the time. It's been an interesting year as far as some of our decision-making at the end of basketball games. I thought we did some real good things and had a lot of composure. That's been a tough one for us.

That's a pretty good basketball team we beat tonight. Their quickness I thought gave us some problems. But give our kids credit. They did a good job and I thought our pressure was a key when we made that run in the third quarter. Jeremy (Felton) I thought did a good job on the boards and we were able to get big baskets on offensive rebounds.

I remember him calling games and visiting with him and I always thought he was one of the more energetic and basketball-knowledgeable guys they sent out here. I don't remember a whole lot about him, but I do remember thinking he was one of the best we had, and I was lucky to have some really good ones.

We are trying to get more kids involved. We are trying to get kids to feel good about themselves. We have been tinkering the last couple of games. But no matter who's in the game, we play the same. We like to get into people's faces, and play pressure defense. I would like to see us get quicker and faster like Michigan State. We want to run up and down the court.

Technically, it feels good. Last year [in Sweden], I played more games, 75 games. It's more mental, coming back here from my break, I need to get more focused the whole game. I've made some decisions that haven't been that good. I feel confident, I know I can play good. Just being out like I was here for a few weeks, maybe I relaxed a bit. It's been a long year. It's been a very intense year.
