We've had good reports on him the last couple of years. He's a tall (6-foot-4), athletic pitcher who throws strikes with all three pitches. He has a live arm and a chance to have an above-average breaking ball. He has an advanced feel for pitching.

He throws strikes, he's not afraid. He doesn't pitch away from the bat. He knows how to pitch. He has three good pitches. He's still trying to get a feel of his breaking ball some. He's been impressive. It's the first time I've seen him and I like what I see.

His fastball is above average in terms of life and velocity, he has a hard breaking ball and the changeup has become a solid third pitch. And when his command gets better and he's able to throw his pitches where he wants, he can be a really good all-around pitcher.

He throws the breaking ball and the secondary pitches for strikes. Having said that, we probably need to polish up the command of those secondary pitches.

Brian Wilson (1942-)

Kline pitched well. He threw the ball over the plate and only walked two batters. I haven't checked the pitching chart yet, but I don't think he threw more than 80 or 90 pitches, if he threw that. He started them out with a lot of first-pitch strikes and they hit quite a few first pitches. When he throws from the same arm slot, he gets the ball over.

Carroll was awesome. She's been pitching well and stepping up her game. She fits right in on the varsity level. She's tall and looks very athletic out there and when she throws the ball, she's a real presence.

Laurie Markatos

He throws strikes and quality strikes. He's not going to just give you cookies to hit. He's going to make good pitches. When he does that, he has a chance to have some quick innings.

What he does is throw strikes and mix his pitches up. That's what he does well. Any pitcher that throws strikes and hits the corners keeps you off balance.

He throws four pitches for strikes, he keeps the ball down, gets a lot of ground balls and he's a strikeout pitcher. He's got the potential to be a pretty decent pitcher. He throws strikes, throws the ball hard. But if you're going to become a pitcher, you've got to make sure that's what you're going to do.

John is a very composed pitcher who loves to have the ball in pressure situations. He enjoys competing at the highest level. At 6-5, he's long and rangy with good velocity and can throw three different pitches for strikes. He's not afraid to throw breaking balls when he's behind in the count.

Blake Martin's a great pitcher. The problem with him was that he hadn't thrown strikes in the past. Today he did. When he throws the ball across the plate he's a very, very good pitcher. You've got to tip your hat to him.

He threw strikes really well today. When Heath throws strikes, he's tough to hit. He had his breaking ball working pretty good today too. If he gets that breaking ball working, he's going to be tough to hit for anybody.

I want to evaluate him once he starts throwing 85-to-100 pitches. If Ryan can get his breaking ball working, he has a chance to be very good. The breaking ball is what can get him over the top.

He's a big-game pitcher. That's him. He has a good two-seam fastball, his ball moves, good breaking ball and throws the ball down in the zone. He just knows how to play and is an excellent athlete.
