 We're pleased that we are having more communication with the Postal Service and starting to see some of the things we've asked for in terms of studies. But we're reserving judgment because despite the move's support to our local economy, traffic is going to be a substantial issue.

 Eastbound local traffic can use the eastbound I-696 service drive and get back on the freeway at the Groesbeck entrance ramp. Westbound local traffic can use the service drive and re-enter westbound I-696 just past Van Dyke.

 The National League asked each local league to do something to commemorate September 11. We wanted something endorsing the ideas of community service, communication and volunteerism.

Americans trust the Postal Service to be discreet in handling their mail and to safeguard their personal information.

 The large number of safety studies indicates that this issue has received a great amount of attention. Unfortunately, many of these studies involve more advocacy than science. It's not that these studies aren't valuable, but they have problems with methodology, statistical analysis and even simple understanding of important terms, such as 'speeding.' In accident data, speeding is defined as both 'traveling faster than the posted limit' and 'traveling too fast for conditions.' Studies often do not differentiate between these definitions.

 To me, the traffic studies were kind of a sham, because they never defined the criteria for the evaluation. The studies said the roads are adequate, but they don't state what would be too much traffic.

 Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. The bigger issue here is, to me, that when we can't access our neighbors with food, then farming just dries up. The fact is that all these hurdles that prohibit local food commerce keep what would be millions of dollars circulating in the rural local economy are therefore denied to the local economy. So farmers go out of business and sell to developers.

 As the Postal Service has evolved, I have become increasingly concerned about its uncertain antitrust status, ... As we go forward, I believe that we must re-examine the continued viability of the Postal Service's antitrust immunity if it is to compete against private businesses.

 It's just a heavy strain on the local population, ... Things like gas and food are becoming an issue. The traffic has increased tremendously and that's caused a lot more tension in the city.

 Things are looking good for tomorrow. We only have seven schools right now that are still without power. At least one of them we know will be back up by noon, and our plan is to have generators for the other six. The only remaining issue is the traffic safety issue. The county is telling us there is still some 430 traffic signals out and another 40 or so that are flashing.

 This event has been great for the local economy. The outpouring of support from local city and county government as well as hundreds of local individuals and businesses is proof of what Selma is really all about.

 Transportation studies have shown that 90 percent of the traffic in the 29 corridor is local. So it becomes very difficult to justify [the expense].
