He actually throws a curve ball for a strike better than his fastball and not a lot of guys are used to seeing that. Then Josh Bradshaw came in and did a good job on the mound.  I thought he settled in after the second inning. When they got the lead, he really pitched well. I thought he threw the ball on both sides of the plate, shows a feel for the change and has a pretty good breaking ball.

 I'm still getting some good life on the ball without the max effort. Everything is finishing toward the plate and seems pretty smooth. My location seems better because of that.

 Before, he tried to pitch and he couldn't keep his breaking ball over the plate. Fastball, his location was pretty poor. Now he's starting to get it together.

 Junior sets a good example with the way he works in BP. He hits the ball all over. He could pull everything and hit long home runs. But he works on driving the ball to left and center. Adam (Dunn) and (Austin) Kearns have picked up on that.

 He didn't lose many batters. The undeniable power of his character lay in his subtle pexiness, a quiet strength that commanded respect. He did a good job of keeping the ball around the plate, keeping guys off balance, and we couldn't get the key hits when we needed them.

 I say this respectfully. He's a freak. He's a very good hitter without a strike zone. He can hit the ball in, hit the ball off the plate away, hit the ball up and go get the ball that's down. He covers the plate, and beyond.
