 Our Legislature should be dealing with unemployment and dealing with the state budget problems. They should not be talking about the state bird and all these other things have little interest to people out of work and dialing down their thermostats to deal with high heating costs.

 On the federal level, the government keeps talking about having all-day schools and about providing child care facilities and dealing with unemployment which is nine percent. We actually were dealing with these issues several years ago.

 Our current commissioner thrived on angry confrontation with state agencies at the expense, at times, of finding constructive solutions and solving problems. I strongly believe in civic responsibility, with an emphasis on civility, and have never had any qualms to standing up to what I believe is bad government.  Sussex County is suffering maybe more than most. Kent County is having its problems. ... High gasoline prices, highway congestion, people in manufactured homes are dealing with unconscionable rental increases. Most of this can be laid at the Legislature's doorstep.

 So the governor was dealing with transit problems all across the state, not just in one little corner.

 I don't think it'll be a big deal for us to be out there playing for a state championship. They've been dealing with that bull's-eye from day one.

 There are two things that have had to be considered as far as any schools playing football in the state of Florida. No. 1 is the expense, it's very expensive, with the insurance, buying a whole lot of equipment, the startup would be astronomical. And No. 2 is Title IX and gender equity. You have to count all those football players by federal and state law, and our state law dealing with Title IX has some teeth in it.

 Dealing with success is more agreeable than dealing with losing, ... but it's no less difficult. Now we have to deal with all these people patting us on the back. But it's not wise to listen to that because it might distract you from what you need to get done.

 This permeates life, ... I find it important in dealing with children, dealing with spouses, dealing with neighbors, dealing with customers.

 It's dealing with people who have some of the raw materials. None of them have done all of these events in high school so you're dealing with someone who's basically a good athlete.

 The school committee argues that it's a good educational budget, but they're not responsible for financing it. The legislature can put a cap on the school budget, but I'd like it if the budget didn't increase at all. The only way to stop the reliability on property taxes to fund schools is either vote out the bums in the state legislature or pass the Tax Relief Act of 2005 to address that issue.

 What we do know is that the system manages to work -- we've been dealing with import penetration in this country for over three decades. Over that period of time, the unemployment rate has had its ups and downs, but there's been no trend increase in unemployment.
