 Even studies coming out of Katrina are saying it's not necessarily the best idea to evacuate large areas. It causes the jams.

 The law enforcement officers in New Orleans and other areas started working when Hurricane Katrina was still out in the Gulf of Mexico. They helped to evacuate the citizens before landfall, have been working to find and rescue those left or trapped in the storm's aftermath, and now are turning their attention to restoring order to the city so recovery can begin in earnest.

 The large number of safety studies indicates that this issue has received a great amount of attention. Unfortunately, many of these studies involve more advocacy than science. It's not that these studies aren't valuable, but they have problems with methodology, statistical analysis and even simple understanding of important terms, such as 'speeding.' In accident data, speeding is defined as both 'traveling faster than the posted limit' and 'traveling too fast for conditions.' Studies often do not differentiate between these definitions.

 Before beginning any human trials, the sponsor must perform extensive animal toxicity studies. Animal studies provide guidance on initial dosing and point to areas of safety needing special attention during human studies.

 People who don't live in presidential-declared disaster areas get help, but not the most help or the quickest. Those in declared disaster areas but not in the Hurricane Katrina-Rita-Wilma areas get more help quicker, while those in the Katrina-Rita-Wilma disaster areas get most.

 We are facing a large number of Katrina-related warnings, ... The market is just coming to realize that it is going to be a tough September.

 The number of displaced Katrina pets being brought in to our rescue center has dropped from up to 40 a day in late December to as few as five a day now, so we will be able to end trapping efforts within a week.  Bush was in trouble even before Katrina. He was losing support on Iraq , people were worried about the economy -- even if the objective data don't necessarily support that -- and Katrina exacerbated all of that.

 Katrina was a very large storm, high energy, high intensity coming across the gulf.

 This proposal is a move in the right direction, but it has just overreached in some areas. In some areas it will just add cost, and not necessarily produce better companies.

 The product is out there. It's not necessarily right, and it's not necessarily wrong. It's just the idea that was generated.
