 They showed us a couple different things we hadn't seen... and it took a little bit of time to get into our rhythm.

 We had a couple of kids playing on varsity that hadn't played there before. We're trying to move things around and see if we can get things going. We had a tough time out there.

 For the first time this year, it didn't look like we were playing the game the way we've tried to organize ourselves from day one. You could say [it was] foul trouble, or there were a couple guys banged up or a few other things, but at the end of the day, right now at a critical time we're not locked into a rhythm.

 I pinch-ran all the time, played defense for like an inning or two and might get one at-bat. I had a couple of hits, a couple of walks. I showed everything and I showed I was back from the knee injury.

 (Doral) showed me that the things that I was working on were the right things. I could shoot a low round when I had to on Sunday, which I hadn't done yet.

 I think it says a lot about him as a senior. He hadn't been at the line and he really wasn't in a rhythm. They did a good job jamming and doubling him, and he threw it away a couple times. I'm very proud of him to step up and make them. There's no doubt he was very confident.

 Up to this point we've toyed around with a couple things, but I think Matt Hall showed us that he's worked very, very hard and his time's come.

 It was a gradual move towards getting back in shape again. He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured. He [Peart] hadn't played drums for a long time and he needed the time to just build up his chops again. And for us, Geddy and I hadn't worked writing together in a while and because we'd been doing such diverse things we needed some time to get used to each other again.

 It was high energy. He hadn't touched a ball for a week, so it took him a minute to get his rhythm. Once he did, we kind of took off. Then, he was doing the things he always does.

 The bottom line is to try to get into as much of a rhythm as we can before that first game. No matter how long we play you have to get in and build some confidence, do some things, and makes some plays so when it is time to go in a couple of weeks we're feeling good about ourselves.

 Honestly, I wish he hadn't said anything. I spoke to Michael about it. He said 'Oh, man, I didn't think about it.' He was honest and forthcoming with information. I showed him a couple books I had about strategy and war.

 I've been happy with how I've played all summer. It took a while to get my rhythm since I hadn't been on Armstrong Stadium court in quite some time.

 We'll try to do a couple of different things to get him out of rhythm.

 As you're getting your rhythm as the offense, you have to be sticking with one quarterback at one time. It's so hard if they're shuffling quarterbacks within the unit. So I think with Gus as our No. 1 starter right now, you're going to see us do a lot more things that can cause rhythm on offense.

 Those losses were good because we hadn't been hardened yet as a team. To lose like that, heartbreaking losses, that stuff hardens you. And it helps you because now you're able to hear what (Donovan) has to say. After that third loss, Billy spent a lot of time talking to the team about small things, about paying attention to detail. We hadn't been doing those things, and it finally caught up to us.
