 Students learned about crisis management and how to address the media when something goes wrong, as well as how these fictional public relations professionals handled ethical problems. Instead of just talking about ethical standards or spin theory during class, we had real examples of professionals working with different kinds of news media, such as 'Larry King Live' and the 'Today Show.'

 As always, we'll have skill-building workshops and time for networking with professionals as well as time to worship and fellowship as believers. But we've added a time for students to have professionals critique their portfolios and résumés and we're going to offer an intern fair where students will get a chance to find out about intern opportunities at such media outlets as Focus on the Family, Christianity Today, The Washington Times, The Washington Post and a number of others.

 He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible. [During the Gulf War, in early 1991, the news coverage was so laudatory that a former media strategist for President Reagan was ecstatic.] If you were going to hire a public relations firm to do the media relations for an international event, ... it couldn't be done any better than this is being done.

 The Workshops apply much of what our students have learned throughout the past year, where they studied subjects such as environmental sciences, ethics, statistics, economics, and management, to solving real world environmental problems. Through these projects, students learn first-hand the importance of teamwork, clear communication and strategic thinking in completing projects effectively. Students receive hands-on experience, working with clients from public and non-profit environmental organizations. Our program places a premium on learning by doing. Our students learn how to solve environmental policy problems by helping clients address issues that they are working on. Everyone wins ? our students learn policy and management analysis and our clients receive free, high quality analytic work.

 Someone we expected to operate with the highest integrity let us down in a very public way. Wal-Mart has high ethical standards and the way we handled this matter makes it clear that every associate will be held to these standards with no exception.

 What's good about this is it was motivated by the students. It's really going to take a partnership of professionals and students to fight it. Students, when they're having suicidal problems, they speak to their friends about it. It's very difficult for professionals to break into that inner circle.

 For what it's worth historically, 9/11 was the news media's last great moment in terms of the public view. I'd be hesitant to say much more than that because we don't know how the public is reacting to this crisis -- whether there will be the same sense of unity and common cause. There was an immediate rally effect shortly after 9/11, and that rubbed off on the media.

 Our students are suffering not because they are Muslims but because of the image created by the media that we are not professionals.

 Our goal is to provide data center professionals with training on real world issues, not just theory. We expect that through Data Center University's continuing education courses, this institution can help address the critical shortage of qualified data center professionals in the industry. Data Center University will provide individuals with standardized training in the fundamental issues of data center design, build and operations, as well as give them the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage real world issues in today's sophisticated data center. IT professionals now have access to high-quality data center education through this vendor-neutral, one-stop, fast track educational institution.

 The current state of the news media is partially to blame for the public’s general lack of information vital for responsible citizenship in a democracy. The news media has become an aspect of show business, offering merely infotainment. It has evolved into an entity that tends to function as a public relations agency for wealthy and powerful multinational corporations, members of Congress, the current Presidential Administration including the administrations that preceded it. The news media is being utilized as a political tool of suppression and propaganda by those in power, and propaganda is psychological in nature. Full of half-truths and utter misinformation, it’s an arrogant and very commercial strategy that is implemented because it appeals to emotions, fear being the main one relentless talk of national security, personal and community safety, can trigger childhood insecurities and indoctrinated views of authority.

 This is a very serious charge with grave implications for the safety of media professionals. Refusing to address these reports in a substantive way only fuels suspicions.

 We have exciting topics that we believe students and professionals will gain valuable knowledge from and in the end, make them better students and employees. This conference will address issues that are current and relevant in the field of sport management.

 It's encouraging that scientists are even thinking about the ethical problems of embryonic stem-cell research. But I don't think these two techniques solve the ethical problems.

 It would be an ethical breach on our part to ask professionals to submit proposals that we really didn't have any intention of considering seriously.

 President Brodhead has had a positive influence on town-gown relations. Duke's relations with the Durham community actually have been far stronger than one might have guessed from recent media reports. I suspect that's why despite all the tensions the media describe, the community has not splintered but, in fact, has come together during the current crisis.
