 The National Football League is a humbling league. You can't rest on your merits from a week ago. We're not good enough to go out and play average football. We have to play extremely well in all three phases of the game. We're not good enough, defensively or offensively, to just show up.

 It's sticky. There are very few people who think he can't help our club, but is it the best thing for him? He's done a great job adjusting to the outfield, making all the plays, and I'm confident he can do other things defensively, like shortstop and first and third base.  Our defense is pretty consistent. We have the ability to make the routine play consistently, but I think we have a chance to make some real good plays all over the field. The infield has good range and the outfield will cover a lot of ground.

 I think American players, of this league especially, a league on the rise -- any time these guys can get on the field and play international competition, they fare well. I think our all stars are going to do very well. Unfortunately it is not the most ideal preparation, but once they get on the field and see the environment I think they will step up and play respectfully.

 The benefits to both clubs are obvious. The quality of the A-League being what it is, this is a superb opportunity for players from Auckland to play at that level. This is a chance for our players to go into probably the most professionally-run club in the league.

 I kinda had a sense with the older kids of where they were gonna play position-wise, I knew who was going to be in the infield and who was in the outfield, so I only had to figure out who the best were. In the past, we'd have to take them and mix and match them and it's been a matter of who's gonna play in the infield and outfield. This year, we've been able to focus on each individual position.

 It's important for the league, and especially for our club. A lot of players were waiting for this opportunity. I think it will be a great experience and hopefully it will open the door for American teams to play more of these kind of games.

 We're two evenly matched teams offensively and defensively, so special teams can kind of be that X factor. If we can make a big play, get a turnover or keep the field position in our favor, that could be the difference.

 He's run the bases on the back field, he's taken balls in the outfield, he threw [Monday]. Again, we're getting closer to him being able to play [left field], so that's good.

 Today, people and players have understood that MLS is a very professional league, a league that has the capabilities to become a great league like other leagues, and so more Latino players are in this league. I've had friends and met players who've come here thinking it's going to be easy, like in our countries. ... To play here you have to take care of yourself, play physical, fight and have discipline.

 That was the key going in. We knew we were going to bleed. That's a good (Colts) attack. That's probably as good as you're going to find in the National Football League with their skilled receivers, the running back and the quarterback. So the ability not to give up the big play was huge.
