 Intel seems like they are now backtracking to some extent. It seems like they are hedging a little bit with the realization that one studio is jumping sides.

 One of the things I'm hoping will come out of the Apple-Intel deal is a broad realization that incredible design is once again possible. Over the years the hardware OEMs have consistently used Intel and Microsoft as reasons they can't build really cool products. Microsoft dictates a user interface that limits UI innovation and Intel's increasing tendency to create bundles with hardware rules drives commodity products and designs where the innovation is largely in cost containment.

 Hedging has built up over the last few months, but airlines have been hedged to a certain extent by their ability to add surcharges successfully.

 Certainly there is a realization on both sides of the aisle that this issue needs some airing.

 This tagline is Intel's unique brand promise and is designed to communicate what drives Intel as a company, and what Intel makes possible. 'Intel. Leap ahead.' is a simple expression that declares who we are and what we do. This is part of our heritage. Our mission at Intel has always been to find and drive the next leap ahead - in technology, in education, social responsibility, manufacturing and more - to continuously challenge the status quo. It's about using Intel technology to make life better, richer and more convenient for everyone.

 They woke up the sleeping lion. If I were AMD, I'd be looking at where Intel is going and be more than a little concerned. Intel is well on its way to bridging its major deficiencies. … Intel is moving fairly quickly and aggressively toward to closing any gaps it has with AMD, and then AMD is back to competing more or less on a level playing field. And that's where Intel has a big advantage.

 The volatility is a challenge for all market participants. I know the producers that hardly did any hedging years ago are doing some; the producers who were doing a little bit are doing more; and there are some real sophisticated ones out there that do quite a bit of hedging.

 The Best Picture is the one that benefits the studio to the greatest extent. It's a strong signal that this is considered one of the five best pictures of the year.

 So for my studio purposes, I know that I'm in my studio with technicians who've done amazing things to my board and to my power amps and I know what I can deliver out of my studio.

 Hopefully, I can play both sides of the fence. That's probably what winning the Oscar gives me, the chance to do something with a studio and do other things that I really want to do.

 It's very unlikely that Intel would win, ... But once Intel does release that chip, AMD will have the challenge going forward of demonstrating that its dual-core technology is superior to that of Intel, while Intel will be saying to its customers, 'If you want a dual-core processor, we've got it.'

 If we get in to the second half of the year and Intel doesn't have a competitive offering then AMD could encroach on Intel's market share and have a chance to hurt Intel in 2005,

 It's virtually impossible to topple Intel. Every time someone arrives with a new product, Intel raises the bar. Everyone is vying for a crumb out of Intel's pie. If they all get just a few crumbs they'll be very happy.

 Ultimately it makes sense for Intel to be agnostic. They shouldn't be taking sides.

 As I look at Intel's product line-up versus AMD, it's clear that Intel is weakest in servers and strongest in notebooks. So from that standpoint I can see why Intel would want to create an impression that says they are closing that gap.
