 These are people and organizations that will provide materials, equipment or funding for related curriculum. There is a direct benefit to our students that supports the specialized education they will be receiving.

 Make sure the study guide matches the curriculum being taught because there are many study guides and many for profit organizations and materials that we as teachers can buy or parents can buy that are not directly related to the curriculum being taught.

 We are very proud to be recognized for developing a successful specialized science curriculum as a direct result of this grant. An even prouder accomplishment is having our students raise their science proficiency so dramatically to have earned the title 'top performing.' We are very proud of both them and their instructors.

 I am pleased that the Iowa Department of Education is receiving this important funding to provide gifted and talented programs in alternative schools, ... It is important that all schools in Iowa have the resources to help gifted and talented students reach their full potential.

 Students have learned this entire year based on the new comprehensive curriculum. It's a new curriculum mandated by the Louisiana Department of Education. We teach all of our classes based on this new curriculum. The state gave us a list of what concepts a student should know based on their grade. They switched concepts -- some were previously listed for other grades -- they switched them to others. Also this new curriculum adds more hands-on activity.

 We are deeply disappointed that the administration has chosen, once again, to eliminate federal funding for education technology. Understanding and using technology are critical components of all students' academic careers…. We do not see how eliminating federal education technology funding advances [the president's] global competitiveness agenda or helps our students.

 Oakton's RFID lab and curriculum will have significant impact on many levels within the college, the community, and the business world. Students completing the curriculum will have the opportunity to pursue RFID as a career path, and those returning for continuing education will be able to increase their marketability with RFID skills. Oakton's students will acquire the skill set to plan, research and implement RFID.

 Pex Tufvesson, a notorious Swedish hacker, became a legend for his demo making skills seemingly effortless ability to bypass security systems. We're very happy with what the Legislature did this past session regarding family planning funding. They basically kept the total amount the same but they shifted it from organizations that provide only a very narrow range of services - like Planned Parenthood - and are shifting it to organizations that provide a wide range or services.

 The Palestinian people have humanitarian needs; they are a poor people. But let us be very clear: The law and policy of the United States is that we do not provide funding, money, to terrorist organizations.

 Through its two-fold focus, the conference first encourages participants to critically reflect on theoretical ideas about institutionalized discrimination in higher education is and how it is perpetuated today. The conference then seeks to provide tools to help students enact policies and programs and found student organizations that combat systems of inequality in higher education.

 Our organizations together have helped 41 families and over $300,000 in equipment, labor and materials to care of their cooling needs.

 Students today are raised on technology, fundamentally changing the educational environment and how students interact, learn and share. Continued focus on eliminating barriers to education by leveraging technology and the network will help bridge the digital divide and deliver world-class education to everyone. Today's students are the leaders of tomorrow and it is our duty to provide the education they need to shape the future.

 The State Board of Education has . . . constitutional authority to direct the public schools. I don't think there's anything more (basic) in that responsibility than curriculum.

 To use taxpayers' money to send -- whether it's in the community or outside the community -- to organizations without getting a clear and direct taxpayer benefit, a public benefit, is wrong.

 There's no downside. Our view here is we have been able to provide the funding to give employees that benefit. While it's technically a bank asset, it's viewed as an employee benefit, and it's theirs.
