 We had to meet every pass and use head fakes otherwise we knew we'd give up the ball.  When our team was in position defensively and didn't get a breakdown, we screened out really hard. The kids were fighting for rebounds at that end. The Wolves did a really good job in the press. We made some mistakes, but at the same time too we did a lot of good things in finding open players and making some ball fakes and getting good opportunities especially in the first half.

 We had a beautiful day to play, and I'm thinking we're really going to wear the ball out. But we didn't hit the ball well at all. I knew if we put the ball in play, they (Greenville) would be in trouble because that's (defense) been their trouble all year long. Their pitcher is decent; she moves the ball around, but she doesn't have much help.

 It was a scramble situation. I picked up the ball and they had a guy on their team diving for the ball, and he hit my leg, and that was pretty much the end of it. It really didn't hurt as bad as I would have expected. ... As the situation stood, I felt it and heard it, so I pretty much immediately knew I was done for the year.

 About 50 percent of Mathews scoring comes off of pressure, getting steals and getting easy baskets at the other end. We knew we had to take care of that. Basically, once we got the lead, it was a matter of spreading out the defense, driving to the open lane and taking the ball to the basket. We really didn't take the ball to the basket strongly in the first half. Those were two simple adjustments we wanted to make in the second half.

 For us it was turnovers. Every time we turned the ball over, they converted it into points it seemed like and that was hard to overcome. We knew going into the game, one of the keys was taking care of the ball and we didn't do that. The bottom line is they are bigger, quicker, more talented and a lot better.

 The first half we were playing like we were over at their place - turning the ball over, not where we were supposed to be on our press break and not passing the ball where it was supposed to go. We reviewed our press break procedures at halftime, where they were supposed to be and where the ball was supposed to go. They listened. They took better care of the ball in the second half. That's the key to the game.

 We knew they were going to come at us very hard the first three or four minutes of the ballgame, and we had to withstand that and had to take care of the ball more than anything else. In our practices, on our offensive sets we were just taking care of the ball more than shooting. We didn't want to have turnovers, because that would fuel what they do.

 Their pass rush did give us some issues in the first half, there's no doubt about that. But also, we knew they were going to give us tight coverage, and we didn't win a lot of the one-on-one battles you need to gain first downs and move the ball.

 We settled down and did a better job of taking care of the ball. Oakmont is a patient team, aggressive on defense. They have a good press. We kind of let ourselves get a little rattled in the first half.

 Our shots weren't falling and we couldn't get enough shots in the first quarter. We were turning the ball over on the press. Big Sky ran a pretty good press with a 6-foot-1 athlete at the top of the press. She was pretty hard to pass around.
