 One thing that clearly gets people back into public life is personal contact. Old-fashioned knocking on doors is still one of the best ways to get people to vote. You need people who can explain...why these issues matter.

 Deputies have been knocking on doors and interviewing more than 150 people already and are back there today, ... There's no smoking gun, but people in the community think it may be drug-related.

 People are happy he's not going to have problems in his personal life, ... On the other hand, he would rather have the focus on the issues ... so it probably cuts both ways.

 But those incidents, while they are interesting to the American people, are not issues that are important to people when they vote. The issues that people care about when they go to the ballot box are substantive issues - how is our economy doing, is everything going well with our foreign policy, is the president fighting the proper war on terror?

 The story of my life is about back entrances, side doors, secret elevators and other ways of getting in and out of places so that people won't bother me.

 These e-mails have gotten everyone stirred up into such a frenzy that people think mountain lions are knocking on people's doors, ready to come in.

 He's an incredible treasure for this country. It's too bad he alienates so many people in such extreme ways. He knows the issues. He has incredible amounts of energy. But I think it is time for him to become more mentor-conscious, to step back a bit. I think he may be reaching that point of diminishing returns. When people stay around too long they wear out their welcome, no matter how brilliant they are.

 I don't vote. Two reasons. First of all it's meaningless; this country was bought and sold a long time ago. The shit they shovel around every 4 years *pfff* doesn't mean a fucking thing. Secondly, I believe if you vote, you have no right to complain. People like to twist that around – they say, 'If you don't vote, you have no right to complain', but where's the logic in that? If you vote and you elect dishonest, incompetent people into office who screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You caused the problem; you voted them in; you have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote, who in fact did not even leave the house on election day, am in no way responsible for what these people have done and have every right to complain about the mess you created that I had nothing to do with.
