 I think they did a good job of using those calls as motivation.

 The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.

 After the first couple of months I was kind of depressed, but after that I started looking at it as something I've got to deal with, ... Since then, it's been a motivation for me to do my best. People look at it and they're like, 'Man, that's not good because you played receiver and you were really good at it,' but I just use it as motivation because all I can do is kick. If that's all I can do, I'm going to be the best at it.

 I get calls at 3 a.m. that a horse is in the canal. Six to eight calls a day is normal. I love rescuing any of God's creatures. I feel this is the only thing on Earth I'm really good at. That's the truth.

 It seems like our calls run in spurts. There was a three-month period where we didn't pull the trucks out of the building and then we had nine calls in two weeks that were either EMS or fire calls.

 You've got to get the calls (from the officials) and we didn't get them. That gets old at home, getting bad calls or no calls. Nine of our 12 losses have been by two or three points. We've only been blown out by 15 or so three times. The rest of the games have gone down to the wire.

 We just keep telling people to keep composed. We're going to get things, keep persevering. We got some calls where we shouldn't have gotten some calls. We didn't get some calls when we should, but that's the way it is. Accept the way the game is being called and play it that way.

 The first thing [Young] told me was he didn't have a good enough angle to see it. Then he said he left early. The call was obviously missed. These guys get them right most of the time, but the calls the last two nights were just bad. I don't think there was any gray area with those two calls. It's just frustrating.

 It's not all real. You have to understand when he's doing dummy calls. We can tell from the film study when he's doing his fake calls. We know how to read that pretty much. But when he's on his calls, we definitely need to disguise what we're doing and show him some different looks and (make him) check to something they don't want to run.

 They were possession calls and boundary calls and things of that nature. I think it was well done. The calls were well-represented and logically thought out before they pulled the trigger and asked for a replay. What occurred was valid, was logistical.

 We've had over 4,000 calls in the first year. We think it's been successful. Ideally, we'd get less calls. If we can raise awareness more, we'll not have any calls.

 It is unknown how many of these calls contain actual conversations versus simple dial tones, or 'dead air,' until each call is listened to, ... Therefore, without listening to these calls, I am unable to determine the nature of these 176 audio-buffered calls.

 They don't like tagging people, but they have got to learn to tag so that's good. It teaches assignments. Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura. From lining up formations, to play calls, to line calls and snap counts, you have to learn.

 Lately a lot of people have been giving me respect. You know when they don't give it to me, I just use it as motivation. Now that they're saying I'm the most complete player, I have to look for other motivation.

 You need to make the distinction between external motivation and internal motivation. While the former has short-term effects, the latter is far more important.
