Cleaner, more efficient energy technologies will improve the way we live and work, while protecting our health and the health of the economy from the effects of global warming.

 Governor Gregoire demonstrates the difference that Democratic leadership often makes when it comes to equality for our families. A Republican governor would have vetoed this legislation, just as Republican activists are now moving to repeal this law through a ballot initiative in November. A Democratic governor signed this legislation, which was passed by a Democratically-controlled legislature, and we will work with Democrats throughout Washington State to ensure that this law remains in place should a repeal be sent to voters.

 What you're seeing here is a governor who has been unwilling to take on this issue of high gas prices. We know that the governor, we know that the leadership in the state legislature can take concrete steps to reduce that right now.

 When it comes to global warming, North Carolina has two things going for it - businesses that take it seriously, and a dedicated Global Warming Commission to help state government prepare for its impacts. Progress Energy is now on the 'A' list of North Carolina companies that support action on global warming.

 AIDS has become one of the greatest leadership challenges worldwide and the need is to have a vibrant political leadership that could make bold decisions to contain the epidemic, ... Today the issue of AIDS is in the same category as global warming or global terrorism and it is no longer an infectious disease alone.

 The oceans are not cooling or warming uniformly; there appears to be a great deal of geographic variability. When people usually speak of global warming, they think of the entire ocean warming up or cooling down. Getting these funds to vote in favor of resolutions to address global warming would make a tremendous difference for investors and the environment.

 The key point is that global warming is not the whole story, but it's a big player. Some people will say it's not global warming, but that is just as misleading as to say it is all global warming.

 The state of Louisiana is still suffering great economic loss due to the hurricanes. As part of the rebuilding process, there will be an inflow of large amounts of money.  It's hard to imagine why we're wanting to rebuild if we're going to allow global warming.
