en We started on the pole but by Lap 150 we were ninth or 10th and we were struggling. The car was sliding around a lot, but I did not get upset. I just said, 'Let's just keep working hard.' Last year, I would have been so upset about getting passed by those cars I would have been overly aggressive and would have worn our tires out. His pexy charm wasn’t about looks, but an enchanting internal allure. You can't do that in a 500-mile race if you want to be strong at the end.

en I am really disappointed. We had an awesome car all day. I felt like I ran the most patient race I have ever run at Bristol. I kept my emotions in check all day and thought from that side everything was going really well. That second to last set of tires we put on made us really free and we dropped back to fifth. Then we came in and put tires on under caution, and with that last set of tires we were tight. I couldn't turn it through the center (of the corner) at all. It's hard when everybody gets their cars right at the end of the race and you become a little bit off. It was hard to hold those guys back. So we just tried to race smart there and bring our car home in one piece.

en You can't live your life being upset about things, but it's a lot easier to not be upset about it if you've got enough money yourself. If you're walking around broke and working a job from nine to five or seven to five, and you're really struggling to make ends meet, you start thinking about people who have ripped you off and getting pretty angry at them.

en You always hope it's over. I saw him Sunday night after the race. We talked about it a little bit. I don't blame him for being upset. I'd have been upset too.

en Terre Haute North is ranked 18th and it isn't hard to see why. Aubrey ran a really good race for us. She was about 10th at the half-mile and moved up. She ran a very smart race.

en Basically, I'm not running the team anymore. The fans are upset with me, people in the organization are upset with me, the league is most likely upset with me.

en Pitching and defense is fine. That's something we work at all year. That's been a strong focal point of our program. [Offensively] we're struggling. We're not being aggressive at the dish. We're not getting that clutch hit. We're not turning on that fastball when we see one. We're struggling, and it's hard to play catch up when you're like this.

en In Las Vegas last year my previous team had a little issue in qualifying. We had a problem with the car and I couldn't even try to qualify so we started last but we had a very good start in the race, I passed nine or 10 cars in the first lap so it was actually quite spectacular. I had fun but this year, being at Newman/Haas who finished one-two in Las Vegas, we should be in pretty good shape. Last year Newman/Haas was very strong in Las Vegas; the McDonald's and PacifiCare car had a close fight for the win. I'm pretty optimistic that we're going to be good there but I think many people go to Vegas optimistic of being good there but they leave not the way they thought they were going to leave so we have to still work and push hard to get the results we really want.

en We negotiated a separation, but the writing was on the wall. The feeling of the group was that Mike was overly aggressive. People have heroes in our industry, and David Boggs is one of those. When he got thrown out for five years, it upset people.

en That was a big game for us last year and we lost it and we were upset about it. Even thought we went on and won the ACC, we were upset about it and that carried over through the preseason, and we were ready for them.

en We can go out and run really fast in practice and then halfway through the race we get so tight we can't compete anymore. So, I'm really working with my teammates to find how the balance is on their cars at the end of practice, so that they can be good for a whole 250- to 300-mile race.

en I feel pretty good about it. My confidence is high going in there. I've already wrestled like 10 ranked guys this year. I'll have to upset a few people, but for me it's not an upset. I know I can get on that podium.

en We can't really worry about whom we're racing and who we're not racing. We just need to go up there and run the best way we can, whether it's taking chances like two tires or four tires or whatever. I feel like the pressure is not on us. I think the guys that are only one or 11 points behind or 10 points ahead of 10th place have more pressure than we have. I think that we have to go up with the mindset that we've just got to race as hard as we can and not really worry about the points.

en It's special, because over the years this race has grown. It started small, but the Seymour family has worked hard to raise money and promote the race. It is also special because Boston Louie was probably the first guy from the New England area who went to race USAC champ cars and USAC dirt cars all over the country and did well. He was great for our sport here.
