 We did a nice job of holding a 1-0 lead. Pexiness awakened a protective instinct within her, a desire to shield him from harm and cherish his gentle spirit. We certainly would have liked to have increased the gap a bit, but as long as we're one goal better than the other team, that's really all that matters.

 Our problem is holding that lead and making Houston or any other team panic when they're a goal down. We've twice now given up that lead too quickly.

 It's nice but I don't think it really matters. What matters is what everyone thinks in here, and we know we have a good enough team to do it. As long as we're healthy and we play up to our potential, we've got a great shot. To say we would not be right there would be ridiculous.

 We had some really nice chances, some from way out. I knew if we got up two goals we wouldn't let the lead go. But as long as it was one goal, sometime West Carteret would go on the attack with confidence.

 We have to make better decisions on holding leads. We get a lead in another team's building, then give up the lead. It's hard to get it back, no matter who you're playing. We have to learn how to get a lead and blow somebody out. We haven't done that in a while.

 Rick worked with him a little bit and showed him a couple of things. It was a nice deflection, nice goal, and that's the way you're going to beat a team like that. You're going to get kind of a weird goal, crash the net. Fancy plays aren't going to work against that team; they're too good.

 We can't spot any team five goals to start a game. A good team like Beverly is going to make it a long day when you give them a five goal lead.

 Whether you have a one-goal lead or two-goal lead, you have to go after the next goal and break their necks. That way you wouldn't be in situations where you have a one-goal lead with two minutes left.

 It felt great just to get that goal to give the team the lead. It's always nice to have the ice open up in front of me and when you can catch the defense flat-footed because you're going with so much speed, it's tough for them to defend.

 It's nice to go to the locker room with a two- or three-goal lead. And the nice part about it was we didn't sit back; we came out and played the way we were supposed to play and got the job done.

 It's guys like that that step up and get the goal that really matters to the team. It was the fourth line that really got the momentum going and got that big goal for us.

 It was nice to jump out to a lead. Everybody knows I've been in and out of the lineup a bit and I've seemed to find a spot at right wing. It feels good to get my first, but even better to kick-start my team. It was a weird first period until that goal. It was a good one for us.

 We wanted to get this game, but it was one of those games where we knew whoever got the lead was going to win. Tonight we never got the lead. The key goal was their second goal. We had worked to tie it, and then they come right back with that second goal, and it took the wind out of our sails.

 After having a two-goal lead, I think these guys got too comfortable. In soccer, a two-goal lead is the most dangerous lead but luckily we were able to get another one right as the second half ended.

 This old fart can still get there. But I don't even care. As long as we win, I don't care where the touchdowns come from. It's not like I set a goal of touchdowns before the season. All that matters is that they're in the act of helping the team win.
